Part 8 The Church Jesus Spoke of  (Matthew 16:18)

The church is God’s best and last hope for this world! God has chosen to proclaim His message, the gospel through the local church! Jesus, is passionate about and committed to His church, and He is looking for His people (the church) to be as passionate and committed to His church as He is!  Today I want to give you six reasons why we should be passionate about and committed to the (this) church.

Part 7 “The Gift that Keeps on Giving”  (Matthew 28:19)

God has called every true believer and follower of Jesus Christ to be fishers of men by the power of Jesus Christ. This is the core of Christianity – Following Jesus does not just change our lives; when we truly follow Jesus – it has an impact on all the lives around us as well.  Our text today reveals, Jesus had a passion for making disciples! Because Jesus had a passion for making disciples and He commissioned us to do the same…

Part 6 “Why Did Jesus Come?”  (Luke 19:1 – 10)

n: In our current sermon series we are looking into the passions of Christ – “The driving forces behind Jesus life and ministry.” We are doing this to make His passions our passions as followers of Christ. Our text today reveals yet another passion of the Christ. Jesus had a passion for the lost! We as “Christ followers” should share in Jesus’ passion for the lost! (Here is why…)

Part 5 “The Secret Weapon of Spiritual Power and Success”  (Mark 1:35)

We are currently moving through a sermon series where we are looking into the passions of Christ – “The driving forces behind Jesus life and ministry.” We are doing this to make His passions our passions as followers of Christ.  We discovered many of His passions thus far, and our text today reveals yet another passion of the Christ. Jesus had a passion for prayer! Prayer is such an important part of the Christian life. As we examine Jesus passion for prayer, He shows us what prayer is really all about and why we too should be as passionate to have an active and correct prayer life just like He had.

Part 4 “Living by the Word” (Matthew 4:1 – 11)

As we continue to move through this sermon series, We are looking into the passions of Christ – “The driving forces behind Jesus life and ministry.” We are doing this to make His passions our passions as followers of Christ. We discovered the first passion “To be about our Father’s business” The second passion was “to identify with sinners” (to know them, love them and show them the way to Jesus). The third passion was to be filled with the person, presence and power of the Holy Spirit to lead Him to spiritual victory. Our text today reveals yet another passion of the Christ; “Jesus had a passion for the word of God! And as Christians, so should we!”

Part 3 Led by an Unseen Hand” (Matthew 4:1)

We are looking into the passions of Christ – “The driving forces behind Jesus life and ministry.” We are doing this to make His passions our passions as followers of Christ. We discovered the first passion “To be about our Father’s business” The second passion was “to identify with sinners”.  We have now entered into the time Jesus begins His earthly ministry. Jesus was baptized to publically identify with sinners and accept His Father’s mission to be the Savior of the world. Our text today reveals yet another passion of the Christ. Jesus had a passion for the Holy Spirit. We may not traditionally think of Jesus as being “filled with the Holy Spirit; but the Holy Spirit played a vital role in our savior’s life (as He should in ours) (Mt. 1:18,20; Lk. 2:25-27; 3:21-22; 4:14, 18-21; Mt. 12:28) In this message we will see Jesus had a passion for the Holy Spirit. (And so should we).

Part 2 “The Day Jesus Stepped into the Water” (Matthew 3:13-17)

Today we’re looking at an event that made it into all four Gospels – Every author of every gospel found this event so inspiring and important that it was included. This event introduces Jesus into ministry. It was His coming out party – His grand opening, so to speak. And, it begins the launch sequence of Jesus toward His eventual crucifixion. (which, makes it really powerful to think about.) It also shows us another passion of Christ, and one which should be ours as followers. Jesus was passionate about identifying with sinners. We see it here in the event of His baptism and throughout His entire ministry. Baptism, actually means “identification” Baptism isn’t where you find Jesus; it’s what you do once you’ve found him.  But that doesn’t answer the question, “Why would Jesus seek to be baptized by John nor how it identifies His passion?” Notice first…

Part 1 “Being about My Father’s Business”  (Luke 2:41-49)

If we are to call ourselves Christians, (i.e.) little Christ’s or disciples (followers) of Christ, shouldn’t we be passionate about the same things Jesus the Christ was passionate about? Shouldn’t our lives, convictions and what drives us, be what drove Him? So, for the sake of this study; we want to define the “Passions” of the Christ as “The intense, driving, or overmastering convictions that drove Christ to come live, serve, suffer and die for us.” Or, more simply put – “What were the driving forces behind Jesus life and ministry.”  As we come to our text, we see some important life lessons for us and the first passion of the Christ. Mary and Joseph story reminds us, There are times when we assume we are near the Lord, only to find that Jesus is missing from our  journey. Notice first …
