Donna Scorse, Go-Getter

One to watch!

Donna was born in Duluth, Minnesota.  Her fraternal grandfather’s entire career was spent working for the railroad.  Her maternal grandfather was a certified pubic accountant.  Her father was a United States Deputy Marshall, and her mother was a chef for the Catholic Archdiocese of Duluth.  Her early education in Elementary, Junior High and High School was spent in parochial schools in the Duluth area.  She graduated college from California Cal State in Fullerton, California with a major in business.

Donna’s first job was as an administrator in a vocational technical college in California.  She next formed her own company which was a  rehabilitation center for those workmen hurt in the maritime trades.  This was one of a very few companies who dealt with injuries to maritime workers.

She married and had two children, one son named Michale, a retired Army Sergeant, and a daughter named Chandra, a licensed surgical technician.

After returning to Minnesota, Donna taught start-up business classes at the University of Duluth.  Her next career change came when she applied to become a flight attendant on charter flights for high ranking government officials and military officers.  After five years, she became an economic developer in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, where she remained until her retirement.

Donna is a very active woman who has served as head of the various boards and board member on many professional organizations, such as the City of Duluth Planning and Appeals Board Chair, Duluth S.O.A.R., Women’s Advocacy Group board member, City of Las Vegas Primary Hearings Officer/Planning Department, member of Rotary International for 22 years, and board member and past president of the Michigan Small Business Technology Development Center Board, just to name a few.

Donna retired two years ago and moved to Tanglewood full time eight months ago, where she immediately became involved with the Broadway Lights Theatre Company and the Diversions Committee.  She is currently a member of the Heartland Cultural Alliance.  Donna is an avid reader who also spends her time jogging, walking, and roller blading.

Welcome to Tanglewood, glad you’re here!
