Let’s Talk, Tanglewood!

The folks with answers

Park Manager Tammy Martin originated the idea of an  open forum to facilitate communication between residents of Tanglewood and its management.  The second of these discussions took place today, December 27, in the Clubhouse. Probably due to the season, the crowd was much smaller than it was six months ago.

Some of the Capital Expenses that were completed in the past year were resurfacing the pool and installing a salt purification system, four billiard tables were re-covered and re-rubbered, four new 60″ TVs were installed for the Bingo players, various offices were remodeled, painted, and recarpeted.  Landscaping was updated. New vehicles were purchased for Housekeeping and the Groundskeepers, and old ones were repaired.  The kitchen drain was replaced, and storm drains were assessed after Hurricane Irma blew through the park.

Still up:  a dog wash station, new countertops in the rest rooms, and of course, road repairs once the drain systems have been secured.

For 2018 some of the proposals include new chairs for the Community Room and Craft Room, security cameras in strategic locations, new washers & dryers in the RV laundromat, and the upgrading of the chipping and putting greens.  The video system in the clubhouse needs upgrading, and the kitchen will get a dish sanitizer, new countertops, and an improved and larger exhaust system.

When the meeting was turned over to the participants for questions, there was no lack.  They ranged from safety issues (more light needed on pathways and the parking lot) to removal of broken trees in the Outback to the question of possibly getting a small bus for those residents who can no longer drive to the grocery store and mall.  The location of the dog exercise area was debated, and the rearrangement of the equipment in the fitness center.

There was the usual griping of minor inconveniences and a few kudos for exceptional performances.  People ran out of questions at 3:00 and the meeting was adjourned.  The next Let’s Talk will be held in late March.  Tammy reminds us that she is always willing to meet with us in her office and after Coffee on Mondays.
