Packed House at HOA Meeting
The Clubhouse was the center of attention Wednesday evening, January 17th as the HOA Meeting came to order. A record attendance of over 300 residents were eagerly anticipating updates on the Roadways, Gates, Nominations and Election Process. Count Basey, AKA President Don Toth, introduced the board members as his orchestra of hard working volunteers.
Exec VP Jack Nelson was well prepared for the barrage of questions asked of him during and after his presentation of the Roadways and Gates. In closing, he asked for help from the residents to take photos of the roadwork in their neighborhood. Don Toth and Jack Nelson were in awe of the immediate feedback as they observed nearly a dozen residents raising their hands ready and willing to volunteer.
The Gate System updates remain chained to the fence, so to speak. The HOA is continuing to work with the vendor to keep the price down. Clickers and stickers were hot topics.
Elections will take place next month for one vacant position on the board. Bob Sisson, retired lawyer, and Donna Scorse, retired Economic Developer were the two candidates chosen by the Nominating Committee. Both are fulltime residents and well qualified to serve on the board. Their resumes are posted on the HOA Bulletin Board for members to read before the February 21st election.
Director, Tom Guinther introduced ‘Seniors vs Crime Program. New to Highlands County, the free service is offered to Senior Citizens who have been taken advantage of through various types of scams. Tom, along with Tanglewood volunteers, Dana Silva, retired police officer, and John Bauer, retired contractor, may be contacted for more information.
Next month’s meeting will be unique in that an election will take place for the first time since the board’s inception five years ago. Only resident homeowners who have paid their HOA Dues by January 31, 2018 will be eligible to vote. You still have time to join.
Membership dues forms are located in the clubhouse by the HOA bulletin board. Make checks payable for $20.00 to ‘Homeowners Association of Sebring Inc.’
