Tanglewood hosted the 2018 Heartland Games pickleball tournament February 10 and 11 with numerous Tanglewood pickleballers doing extremely well. On Saturday, men’s and women’s doubles took to the courts while Sunday saw mixed doubles play. Our eight court facility, with its shaded viewing area, is the envy of most who come to play here.
The tournament director was Tom Stadler who did a great job organizing play and keeping the games moving right along. As usual, Tom was helped by his sisters Betty Schleis, Mary Kloster and Kathy Sponholtz. The whole weekend was a success thanks to the many volunteers including; Sandra Armitage, Mary Lou Simpson, Linda Mowell, Julia and Paul Hinshaw, Diane Hollinger, Roger & Norma Hardiek, Jerry St. Cyr, Yolande Carbonneau, Barb Snyder, Donna Elenbaas, Pat McKenzie, Mike Sharkey, Bill Kerr, Mark Pearlman, Pat Smith, Ron Wentworth and Marcie Taylor.
Thanks to Hometown America for providing bananas and to the Heartland Games gold sponsors, Newsom Eye and Alan Holmes of Edward Jones, for providing humongous subs for lunch on Saturday and wraps on Sunday.
