FROM YOUR COMMUNITY MANAGER
May is a time for many things. I remember looking forward to May Day when I was growing up. Now the one day in May that stands out to me is Memorial Day, remembering and honoring those that gave ALL for our freedom. The Business and Activities Offices will be closed on Monday, May 28th in observance of Memorial Day.
METAL ROOFS: I have received several questions about metal roofs in Tanglewood. In order to have a metal roof installed, you will need to drop off your engineering plans with all the specifications on the roof to the Business Office to be reviewed and approved by Management.
HURRICANE SEASON: begins June 1st and continues through November 30th. The most important step that you can take to increase your preparedness is to have a plan!
Part of your plan should include: cash, water, non-perishable food items, a battery operated radio, extra batteries, and a first aid kit.
For a more detailed list, you can visit: http://www.hcbcc.net/departments/emergency_management/hurricane_preparedness.php , or you can pick up an information packet from the Business and Activities offices.
***If you will be away during this time, remember to secure all loose outside items that could possibly become a projectile during a storm.
A new tradition was started a few years ago, the Jammin’ Jell-O Shot Party! This year’s party will be on Wednesday, May 23rd from 3-5 pm at the Pool Veranda. Pull out your favorite Jell-O shot recipes to make and share. Hometown America will provide non-alcoholic Jell-O shots, snacks and entertainment. Hope to see you there!
BEAUTIFICATION RECOGNITION FOR MAY 2018
The Beautification Recognition is at the home of Tommy & Beverly Schaub, 2876 Whistle Stop
This beautiful yard and well-groomed home is appreciated by all our residents. The judging includes a well maintained yard, clean exterior of the home, as well as maintained plants and shrubs.
Each month we will recognize a home with beautifully maintained yard. The Award sign will be in the yard for one month. A resident committee chooses a yard each month, and there are several guidelines they must follow.
FROM THE ACTIVITIES OFFICE
May 23rd: JAMMIN’ JELL-O SHOT PARTY
Jump on the S.S. Tanglewood Cruz ship as we venture to the Caribbean islands for this May’s Jell-O shot party. We explore the island sounds of reggae, calypso, soca, ska and the sounds of Cuba as well. Capt. Of the ship will be DJ-D. Boarding will begin 3:00 May 23rd at the pool patio.
HURRICANE PET SHELTER
Tanglewood Community Church will be in charge of the Hurricane Pet Shelter for this 2018 Hurricane Season. You will need to sign your pet up in the yellow folder on the credenza.
The church will be giving further directions and information regarding this. However, remember spaces are limited.
If you still have a deposit on file in the activities office from last year that you have not picked up, please come and do so.
Just because you have a deposit on file or you sign up does not mean you are guaranteed a spot. In the past there has been a new drawing every year to offer everyone with pets a fair chance for shelter. I am unsure of how the church will be designating spots, so please pay close attention at Monday Coffee for announcements, and as soon as I have other information, I will gladly have it posted.
