Cornhole Baseball ⚾️ Super Wednesday Tourney

On Any Given Night

The Tanglewood Cornhole Baseball Summer Slo League wrapped up with our first SUPER WEDNESDAY Tournament on September 5th.  All seven teams were pumped with hopes of making a deep run into the single elimination finale….but in the end there is just one winner.

Congratulations go out to the Somebodies (#1 seed), who claimed the championship with a 10-5 victory over the Cinderella team in the tourney and #7 seed Sixers. ‘On any given night’ was definitely the theme as the QUARTERFINALS went off at 6pm sharp.

Stunning the #2 seed Firecrackers in the opening round, the Sixers rallied for 3 runs in the last inning, sending one of the best teams, and finals ‘favorite’ packing 7-6. Sixers off to the Final Four!

The Grasshoppers (#3 seed) survived a last inning rally by the gutsy Impossibles (#6 seed) 5-3.  Breathing a sigh a relief, the Grasshoppers move on to the Final Four!

Despite a 5 run second inning by the Dynamites (#5 seed), the Cubby Bears (#4 seed) rallied for a 9-6 win, punching their ticket to the Final Four matchup with top seed Somebodies.

Another stunner as the Sixers fought off a very good Grasshoppers team 11-9. Yes, the same team who were in that 1-1 tie in season play, suddenly came alive and scored at will. The Grasshoppers rallied in the 6th with 4 runs but couldn’t overcome the deficit.  SIXERS GO TO FINALS!

No this is not a typo! Same scores in the Final Four…..go figure! Top seed Somebodies fresh off their bye, matched up against the high flying Cubby Bears. Scoring in the first 4 innings the Somebodies outlasted the Cubby Bears 11-9.  The Cubbies rallied for 2 runs in the last but fell short. SOMEBODIES GO TO FINALS!

We Are The Champions

Top seed vs Cinderella. What a great storyline! The Somebodies struck quick and often, building up a 10-3 lead by the 4th inning over the Sixers. The Cinderella 7 seemed to hit ‘The Wall’ in their third game of the evening, against a very strong team who can score from anywhere in their lineup. Sixers rallied for 2 in the 6th but the Somebodies take the crown 10-5.  Team members are Dick Hale (front).  Back row, left to right, Warren Smith, Bartley Rodgers, Anne Eberlin, Pam and Nelson Pelletier, Patti Smith, Joyce Robbins.

*** Id like to thank our sponsors, the HTA Sales Staff Jay and Rob Etherton for providing and serving up ice cream sundaes between the opening rounds. Very much appreciated!

*** Thanks also go out to Robin Etherton and Steve Batey in helping throughout the year with the sound system so the Commish could make his weekly repetitive announcements.

*** Above all the Commish (and this reporter) would like to personally thank ALL the players who made this a FUN league, and always pitched in with setup and breakdown of the courts.  Many hands make less work! Thank You All!!!

Let’s take a couple weeks off and get back to it……The Cornhole Baseball Fall League is just around the corner. Teams and players needing a team please watch for further info in the very near future. See You There!
