Let’s Talk, Tanglewood

Assembled for Let’s Talk, Tanglewood today were over a hundred people with the discussion moderated by Tammy, Gary, Billie, Isasc, and Jay.  Tammy presented a list of 2018 Capital Expenditures; these items are completed:

  • 150 new chairs for the Community and Craft Rooms
  • Acoustiblok fencing for the pickleball courts
  • New furniture for veranda at the clubhouse
  • New truck for maintainence
  • New chipping and putting greens installed
  • New tankless hot water heater installed in the RV Comfort Station
  • Duct replacement, clubhouse, system 3
  • New 4-ton A/C system installed in Community Room

Currently under contract and in process:

  • Walkway extension between the bash area and the sidewalk near the tennis courts.

At this point, the floor was open to questions/comments.

  • Pool status with regard to coping.Tammy-coping was found to match what we have and will be shipping in next week. The quote has been approved.
  • Pond at Schumacher: The pumps are working and should be resolved by the end of the week
  • Wood Shop A/C runs 24/7 and has been for months. Tammy: They will check on this. No one’s mentioned it before
  • Fountains used to have lights.  Will be up and running in timing with the Xmas lights.
  • Hard to push wheelchairs over the stones in the bash area; handicapped vets can’t get close. Tammy: You can get to the dance area from sidewalks. They can put tables and benches on the dance area whenever we need them there for an event.
  • All streets need to be paved: Tammy: The storm drain repair had to be first. The spillway is almost done. Roads will be started in Whistlestop in Phase II for 2019.  The order has to be: pipes, asphalt, then a specialist to plan the roads.
  • No soap in the ladies room. Tammy: in mid October the RV camp hosts will be back and start working.
  • Restrooms need cleaning due to stains.
  • Tables on veranda are dirty
  • Floors need to be mopped
  • Music needs to be turned up at the pool; no one can hear it.  Billie: She is frustrated with the radio. The music runs from her office. It cuts off by itself. Its been repaired numerous times and she’s been told there’s “nothing wrong”. First the switch in the Bingo area has to be UP.  If it is UP, then the problem is in her office and they can’t get to that after she leaves.
  • Pool coping is not fixed yet. Tammy: all is in the works and the coping is enroute at this time.
  • The ledge at activity bldg needs cleaning due to love bugs.
  • Mowing should be evenly done everywhere at the same time and trees need to be trimmed.
  • The tree by the petanque courts died.
  • Rules should be enforced for all e.g. dirty mailboxes. Tammy: Quadrants of Tanglewood are inspected every week so the entire property is inspected in a month’s time.   Gary: Residents get a letter giving them 30 days to get the work done. These letters are met by anger from residents storming the office.  If its not done, HTA gets it done and charges the resident. House sitters tell owners everything is fine. Then the owner gets a letter with issues about  the property and they are angry. Owners are paying for a service that’s not being done. Tammy: does send pictures to residents who are up north to show what needs to be done.
  • When do garbage cans have to be “hidden”. Tammy: November 1.  Please tell the office if you know things are not right.
  • 8′ tables in activity center are causing splinters and are too heavy to move.
  • Feral cats- one resident has trapped 22 feral cats and another has trapped 2, and then 3 more today.  Tammy: This has been addressed with corporate attorney.  Cats must be trapped; owner must give permission for traps to be placed.
  • Guest passes are not being used by all. Tammy: I agree.
  • Could the tennis courts be blown clean?
  • The shed in the horseshoe area is molding and things are living under it.
  • Another HTA park did all the resident mowing and trimming and did one section at a time. Could we have universal lawn work if we paid for it. Tammy: doesn’t know how they could change that since they don’t have the crew for that. Gary: doesn’t want any part in getting involved in that.
  • Sprinklers in workers parking lot areas are shooting everywhere. Gary: has a work order to fix three sprinkler heads and it will be done at the end of this week.
  • Gary: there are illegals living in Tanglewood. Please tell the office if you notice.  Some people shelter their friends to use our pool; tell management! Tell our office, not corporate.
  • Kitchen update?  Tammy: the convection oven was repaired last week.  Up for 2019: a commercial dishwasher; new flooring. Up for 2020: Upgrade counter tops. Gary: inspector said first oven is in great shape.
  • Flower beds have no flowers at the entrance to Wildflower. Gary: they don’t do flowers in the hot summer months. They will be replanted by the end of October.
  • Could the timers be changed on watering. Sprinklers go off and she gets wet. Every Wed at 9:00 the golf carts are getting soaked.  Gary: sprinklers have been turned off for Monday’s Bingo games. There are 40 zones that have to be watered in four days time. They can switch zones.  Come to the office to talk specifics  so they can make the changes.
  • Shade tree by petanque courts doesn’t give shade. Gary: This is a flowering tree and was approved before it was planted. He will plant an oak tree but please note that it will drop leaves.
  • A 75′ stretch of road has 11 patches. Will this be fixed so its all one patch? None of the patches hold up. Asphalt repair is Phase III.
  • Could the parking lot lights be timed to stay on later? People have fallen in the dark. Gary: Yes, they can be changed. Come to the office and we’ll discuss it.
  • HTA should be policing that everyone has homeowners insurance since its in the prospectus. Gary: good point.  If its in the perspectus we have to figure out how to enforce this and they will “go upstairs”.
  • Golf cart insurance has to be renewed yearly.
  • Complaints about trees dying in 2015, 2016, 2017 and now in 2018 the dead trees have been removed and there are only three live trees. The view is the back of Fairmount homes. Why can’t this be fixed? Next stop is corporate. Gary: these trees were damaging the berm and were in danger of flipping the mowing machines. Gary will object to trees in this area. Trees planted her are killed by flooding every year.
  • Pickleball courts are well below decibel level that would damage hearing.  Players don’t want to be boxed in with more sound protection. Gary: ONE person is complaining. Tammy: they wanted to install the next phase of sound protection and were told there will be a petition to stop it.
  • There is a tear in the huge map in the lobby. He reported it ten days ago and its still not fixed.  Gary examined the tear after the meeting.
  • When willl the lights be restored at the ponds? Tammy: this will be done in Oct/Nov/Dec by the time the Xmas lights are up.
  • Gary: has this community at his heart. You deserve the best!  You deserve the best grass, the best edging. Make an appointment to talk with us in a friendly atmosphere. Talk to us in the office instead of going to corporate:
  • Tammy: Thanked everyone for coming toda.
  • Next Let’s Talk Tangelwood is December 26.
