Cornhole Baseball ⚾️ Fall League

Opening Night!

Opening Night

It was Opening Night for the Cornhole Baseball Fall Fun League with 12 teams in 2 divisions, 6 courts in play and 115 players on hand for the evening. After acknowledging our awesome sponsors, the HTA Sales Team of Jay & Robin Etherton and Gerry Rollinson, the Commish quickly held a rule reminder briefing. Shall we say we all have good memories…..just short!

Let’s get to the action….

Court 1…The Somebodies and Toss Ups lit it up like the 4th of July in the first game with 17 runs combined in the FIRST INNING!  The Toss Ups went on to a 17-16 victory notching their first win of the young season.  Game 2 saw the defending Summer League champs Somebodies, fall behind quickly 8-2 after 2 innings, but rallied to grab an 11-9 win.

Court 2…Clutch and timely hitting was the theme as the Dynamites took both ends of their double header with the Patriots, 11-9 and 6-5. Both games saw the upstart Patriots take a lead into the final inning, only to see it slip away to the Dynamites who move into a tie for first place in the American Division.

Court 3…Joining the Dynamites atop the American Division, the Grasshoppers swept both games from the Impossibles, winning the first game in a blow out 13-2. The nightcap however saw a much tighter match with the Grasshoppers hanging on for a 5-4 win over the Impossibles who brought their ‘A’ game despite the loss.

Court 4…The first court of the National Division saw the Firecrackers and Sandbaggers duke it out splitting their series. After a quiet first 3 innings in Game 1, the Firecrackers exploded scoring 11 runs in the last 3 innings to take the opener 12-7. Not to be denied, the Sandbaggers let it rip in the finale blasting the Firecrackers 13-2 sending a message to the league that this team can score.

Court 5…The Pioneers and Bag Ladies fired on all cylinders early in their first game with the Ladies taking a 7-6 lead after 2 innings. That was all the scoring there would be for the Bag Ladies, as the Pioneers scored 7 unanswered runs for a 13-7 win. In the late affair the Bag Ladies bounced back scoring just enough to even the series with a nail biting 5-4 victory.  The Pioneers rallied for 3 runs in the 6th but fell short.

Court 6…In our lowest scoring contests of the night, two of the new teams went head to head. Taking both games of their double header, the Twisters moved into sole possession of 1st place in the National Division edging out the Squids 3-2 in the early game. Gaining confidence after their first win of the season, the Twisters aided by a 4 run third inning, squished the Squids 5-1 to end the nights roundup.
