Halloween Dance 2018
Last Saturday Night in Tanglewood there was a barrage of unique visitors haunting the clubhouse. Entering the front door were Green faced ‘Witches’, Harry Werewolf, an Alien in a box, Pirates and Wenches, along with a few celebrities like Miss Piggy snorting a piggy grin, Tom Brady still carrying that deflated football, (Colts fans never forget),and Dr Kildare, who was holding the biggest hypodermic needle known to man. Finally, the Blues Brothers made a special appearance, one night only.
As they wandered into the clubhouse, they were instructed to pass by our ‘outside judges’ so they could begin their difficult task of choosing the two best costumes in four categories; Best Female, Best Male, Best Couple-Duo, and Best Group.
There were hippies, trashy men and women, and a skeleton that would scare the Grim Reaper himself. One of the group costumes had four ladies dressed in one-piece bathing suits, with white hair caps and red goggles. They were rowing a paper canoe in their bare feet. If you knew them, this was right up their alley, or maybe a creek. Each year they seem to out do themselves from the year before.
A special thank you to our judges:
Kathy/Kevin Arnette – Lake Placid, and Steve/Linda Cohn – Lake Bonnette Village
It was a tough decision and they were surprised at the variety and authenticity of the creatures passing before them. But, decisions were made and here are the results:
Catagory Placement Costume
- Female 1st Place Tom Brady
- 2nd Place Dr Kildare
- Male 1st Place Skeleton
- 2nd Place Werewolf with Paws
- Couple-Duo 1st Place Wall Outlet & Plug
- 2nd Place Sailor and Nurse
- Group 1st Place Trash Group
- 2nd Place Rowing Team
If you’re wondering who was behind all that make up and hair, your guess is as good as mine.
Let’s not forget who kept the music rockin’ and ghouls on the dance floor. Non other than “Party Dog Rick”. He played a variety of songs that everyone could dance to. Mr Party Dog even played ‘The Monster Mash’ and YMCA. (Our arms will be sore for days after those two songs). We also heard songs by Elvis, and Elton John, and finishing off with one of my favorites, the Eagles ‘Hotel California’. All in all, it was a grave-yard smash!
