FROM YOUR COMMUNITY MANAGER
Happy Fall! Bring on the fire rings and the cooler weather!

November has several important days to remember:

  • 11/4/2018 – “Fall” Back: turn clocks back 1 hour
  • 11/6/2018 – Election Day
  • 11/11/2018 – Veteran’s Day
  • 11/22/2018 – Thanksgiving Day

November is a great month in Tanglewood as all of our northern friends begin to return. As our numbers increase, please keep safety in mind. Obey the posted Speed Limit (((17 MPH))), and STOP completely at all stop signs.

The Tanglewood Business and Activities offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday on 11/22-11/23/2018.

I meet with residents after Monday Morning Coffee in the Community Room. I’m there until 9:30 a.m., or you can contact me via phone, through email, or in person by appointment. Making an appointment would be best so that I can set aside time to meet with you without any interruptions.

JUST A REMINDER
The current schedule for watering days are as follows:
Even Numbers, Thursday & Sunday
Odd Numbers, Wednesday & Saturday
Thank you

BEAUTIFICATION RECOGNITION FOR NOVEMBER 2018
The Beautification Recognition is at the home of Robert & Christina Brooks, 4136 Smoke Signal, Congratulations!!

This beautiful yard and well-groomed home is appreciated by all our residents. The judging includes a well maintained yard, clean exterior of the home, as well as maintained plants and shrubs.

Each month we will recognize a home with beautifully maintained yard. The Award sign will be in the yard for one month. A resident committee chooses a yard each month, and there are several guidelines they must follow.

FROM THE ACTIVITIES OFFICE
We would like to welcome back all of our seasonal residents by  kicking off this year with a Fire Ring in the BASH AREA on Wednesday, November 14th, from 5-7 pm.

The Lee Allcorn Band will be here to perform for your listening and dancing enjoyment. We will be lighting up the ring, and providing hot dogs for those who would like to grill their own. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR ID BADGE.

Bring sides to share with your friends. We will also have beer, wine, sodas, and water. All of this provided to you by Hometown America. Please note this Fire Ring will be done in the BASH AREA not in the Outback.

THANKSGIVING POTLUCK
Sign up for Thanksgiving Potluck will be on the credenza for those who are participating in the Thanksgiving potluck at the clubhouse on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, at 2 pm.

One turkey will be provided per table with 12 people. The last day to sign up will be Thursday, November 15th.

Turkeys will be distributed on Monday, November 19th, following Coffee until noon.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON MOVIE
Please join us on Tuesday, November 27th, at 2:00 pm for an afternoon movie. Popcorn and sodas will be provided. The movie will be “Wonder”.

Based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman.

Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie  becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

NEW RESIDENT SOCIAL
The Welcome Committee is sponsoring a New Resident’s Social on Monday, November 5th, 2018 immediately following Coffee until about 11:30 in the Community Room.

Anyone who was new to Tanglewood since May of this year is invited to attend this get together.

If you have bought a house, are on a lease to buy program, or in the RV area, and want to meet other new residents, please join us. Meet your neighbors from your own area: i.e. Bayside, Carefree, etc., and get to know them.

The Welcome Committee members will be greeting you, introducing you to other new residents, and providing coffee, tea, and goodies. If you have a name badge, please wear it.

Stop by the Welcome Table any Monday before or after Coffee to say hi, and we’ll answer any questions you have. Come join us, you just might meet your new “Best Friend”!

RV CLUB CHRISTMAS FOOD DRIVE
As we did last year, the RV Club is doing their part to help out the Heartland Food Bank. The club is collecting money so the Food Bank can supply families in need with a Christmas meal. In the past, the club could only purchase non-perishable food items. The food bank can do so much more. It is able to get turkeys, hams, fresh fruits, and vegetables at wholesale prices or at no cost.

The money donated goes much further and feeds many more folks here in Highlands County. Recipients include the elderly as well as working families.

The Food Bank is in desperate need of community support due to building and refrigerated food truck issues.

Just a reminder: The Bingo Committee will be doing a special 50/50 on Monday, November 12, to help raise funds for the Christmas Food Drive.

On Saturday, November 10, the RV Club will have their usual spot at the Craft Fair. You will find some really good baked goods at ridiculously low prices. Craft items made and donated by Tanglewood residents can also be found on the club’s table. And, as an added surprise this year, club members are also donating items they have found on their summer travels or from their home state.

One more thing, RV Club members will start collecting money at Monday Morning Coffee on November 5th. You may donate either cash or a write a check payable to Heartland Food Bank. If you cannot attend Morning Coffee, you may drop off your donation at the Activities Office or to Heather Paine at 2610 Lazy Days.

Thank you for supporting this very worthwhile project.
