Let God Guide You!
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8 MEV
This verse is very important to me! On the Sunday night God called me into full time ministry I was very confused. I owned a very successful business with several employees that depended on me for their livelihood. I also was the Chairman of Deacons in a very large church just outside Atlanta Georgia, plus being a teacher in the Adult Sunday School of my church. I also was a lay speaker for men events in Georgia. In other words my life was set and going well. But all of a sudden during a Sunday Evening Worship Service my life was turned up side down. I went home wondering why at the age of 40 had God called me into full time service when I was already so active in Christian ministries as a layman. All the ministers that had been my pastors over the years had been called into the ministry as young men. I felt as if I was too old at 40 to become a full time pastor! I share this with you not to point to my self, but to give you some background.
My confused state was because I didn’t know what to do. Do I sell my business, do I move to another city to go to seminary, do I take my daughter out of college where she had just started? There were so many decisions that needed to be made. My mind was jumping from one thought to another as a chicken running around with its head cut off. As my wife and I talked and prayed seeking what decisions we needed to make one thing was very clear in our minds–God had called me into full time service. As we opened our Bibles seeking answers to the decisions we needed to make we saw Psalm 32:8 and we knew that God had given us our answer! In that simple verse He told us 4 things: 1. He would instruct us, 2. He would teach us, 3. He would show us the way we should go, and 4. He would counsel us with His eye on us! From that time forward we had a perfect peace and quit our struggle in what we should do. The rest is history and from that time until the present I have trusted Him to lead and guide me in the direction He wants me to go. I was asked by a friend in the ministry how I picked the churches I served in as a pastor since he had observed that I had been in nothing but great growing churches. The answer was simple I don’t pick them. I share all this for one reason; as this year is coming to a close and in a few weeks we are going to begin a new year let God lead and guide you in the way you should go!!! You will be glad you did. An Everlasting Word!!!!
