TMAC February 2019 Minutes

FEBRUARY 20, 2019

The meeting was called to order by Chair, Bruce Eberly at 3:00 p.m. in the Tanglewood Club House. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Estimated number in the audience was 27.

Roll call was taken by the TMAC secretary, Donna Scorse. All committees were present except the following: Bingo, Petanque, Table Games and Wood Shop.

January minutes were sent to all committees. A change to the minutes is as follows: The TMAC By-Laws were approved at the January meeting and are to be placed within the minutes.

Beginning Balance as of January 1, 2019 was: $144,595.79
Ending Balance as of January 31, 2019 was: $124,596.96
Committed Funds: $ 85,966.74
Available Funds: $ 38,630.22

Community Manager, Tammy Martin, stated that the A/C contract has been signed. Installation for the new A/C unit, in the Club House, should be within two weeks. Picnic tables for the Outback have been ordered.

Tanglewood Times has a good website. Hence forth, all vendors will have to go through TWRT first and place their business cards within an ad space and not lay their cards within the Club House. Projectors and screens are scheduled for the 2019 budget but the money has not been released yet.

All committees are encouraged to submit their year end report to her. The information should contain a year end financial report along with a brief activity report. She requested copies of the current TMAC By-Laws; which she had not been given. Chair Bruce Eberly provided her a copy. She reviewed upcoming events for the month of February.

Various topics have been discussed throughout the month including Cloud Services, Internet and computer security. The annual party for this committee will be held on March 12th, from 11:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the “Rec Hall”.

Next computer meeting is February 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room. The Maintenance committee did not meet last month but will hold their next meeting on March 8th at 1:00 p.m. in the Community room.

The Glass shop provided the secretary a copy of their Mission Statement and By-Laws. It has been so noted. The Glass shop room has been painted. New members continue to show an interest and there has been a lot of activity. Election of officers are as follows: Deeter Rhoton is the new Chair and Fred Beaman is the new Vice Chair.

The committee has sponsored a Blind Date with a book event. Choose a gift wrapped book displayed on the shelves, read the book, write your opinion of the book on the form provided and place your evaluation in the designated box in the library. Names will be drawn from the entrants and will be announced at Monday Morning Coffee. The committee is looking forward to the March garage sale, where they be selling books.

New committee members are as follows:

New members are being signed up. The first Family History, Heirlooms and Antiques presentation was held on February 6th. Twelve individuals exhibited their antiques etc. We are looking forward to holding this event next year. A guest speaker will be coming to the March meeting and will speaking on DNA testing. April’s meeting will focus on how to use Family Treemaker to create your family history.

There remains one performance in February; two in March and one in April. For the “next season” performances have been scheduled for December 19, 2019. Individual show tickets remain at $15.00 each.

The Anniversary Dinner was held on February 2nd with 208 guests attending. Ten couples were honored who had or are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Guests were pleased with their meals and live entertainment was provided. Special thanks went to the Indoor Decorating committee, Special Events, Tech Committee, and Special Meals and the efforts of Tom McKeever and his team. Elections were held and Nola Bernstein has taken over as Chair.

Mixed doubles play Monday through Friday @ 9:00 a.m. All residents are invited to play. Racquets and balls are available. An appreciation tournament will be held on March 1st starting @ 9:00 a.m. Sign up in the book located on the credenza. Pizza will be served afterward.

A special thank you to HTA for the purchase of a blower to keep the leaves off the courts. Next meeting will be held on March 14th @ 9:00 a.m. on the court.

We are in the midst of our tournament season. Tournaments will be held and continue from January 4th – February 22nd. Our regular play is 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and everyone is welcome to join in.

The election of new officers was held: Chair: Bob Laroque, Vice Chair: Bill Ruilli, Treasurer: Sonia Cassell; Secretary: Marylee Cipreano.

We continue to cover events in Tanglewood. Please send us your committee news so it can be advertised in advance. Afterward, we do a recap if information is provided. Three new members have joined our committee.

The lobby was changed out for Valentine’s Day. Arrangements were made for Twisted Tea. The 50th Anniversary and Potluck. Officers will remain the same for the upcoming year: Chair: Gail Woolley, Vice Chair: Betty Bjore, Secretary/Treasurer: Becky Arth.

Committee has requested exemption status from TMAC funds. An annual report of expenses was given to the TMAC secretary, so noted. A copy of their By-Laws was also provided to the TMAC secretary; so noted. Items for future consideration are: bleachers, water fountain, lighting.

Bruce Eberly inquired if other bids had been received for the repair/painting of the ship storage shed. None have been received.

It was noted that the railing going to the stage in front has been repaired and reinforced. An equipment ramp has been built in back to help facilitate the moving of band/performance equipment.

A special thank you to the following who helped on both projects: John Paye, Tom Malougowski, Neil Phillips, Randy Cowmandow, Scott and Dona Wilson, Jerry Bernstein.

The Glass Shop is in need of two A/C units and window units. They are requesting $2,700 for all units and electrical work.

A motion was made by John McKinney to table this for the following month with a presentation to be made by the Glass Shop.

It was noted that HTA was asked for their financial support and they declined. Steve Batey has stepped forward to do the presentation for our March meeting.

In Old Business there was a motion to approve the purchase of the kilns by the Glass Shop for a total of: $1,666.38. The kilns were purchased several months ago. There was unanimous support for this approval.

The new TMAC chair, Tom McKeever thanked Bruce Eberly for his work over the last year and a recap of a few of the accomplishments: Installation of new soda machines, the approval of new By-Laws, and the new support of the front railing; along with the new ramp in the back.

Motion to adjourn was made at 4:30 p.m.
