The last Petanque tournament of the season is always a time when friends say their good byes and offering hugs, before many of our ‘snowbirds’ head north. It was a beautiful day with clear skies, rather humid at 90% at the 9am start….winds very light from the SE at 5mph and a comfortable 70F. Tournament Coordinator Greg Plank got the 16 team tournament off and running as the team ‘pointers’ made their first toss at each of the 8 courts.
Surprisingly as the morning wore on and the temperature rose, eventually to 83F, the humidity plummeted to 63% to the players delight. As the 64 players were duking it out on the courts, our Petanque Grill Team were busy at the grill making sure those dogs were grilled to perfection..many thanks to Joyce Finochio and Bonnie Berta for giving their time and effort for the committee.
Every tournament has its winners and after 4 rounds of action some familiar faces again rose to the top, and took
home the title. Lets get to the winners…
The “A” Flight Winners, going undefeated all day! (Left to Right) Len Comrie, Laura Keeler, Margaret Comrie, and Bob Bryant. This was one tough team!
On the flip side our ‘B’ Flight Champs lost only 1 game on the day (in the
first round) but went the rest of the day in the winners column. The ‘B’ Flight Champs are (L-R) Fran Rowland, Jim Waldron, Barb Thulin, and Bob Thulin.
As always, a tournament has many hands to make it happen. Thanks to All, who participated, and volunteered to make for another great Petanque season.
