TANGLEWOOD MASTER ACTIVITY COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES
MAY 15, 2019

The meeting was called to order by Chair, Tom McKeever at 3:00 p.m. in the Tanglewood Club House. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Estimated number in attendance was five.

Roll call was taken by the TMAC secretary, Donna Scorse. The following committees had no representation:
Bingo, Dance, Model Yacht, Pickleball, Trips and Travel, Wood Shop.

Motion to approve April Minutes by Bob Grandsard with support from John McKinney.

TREASURER’S REPORT: MARILYN SCHOPPENHORST
Beginning Balance as of April 1, 2019: $132,433.91
Ending Balance as of April 30, 2019: $137,604.05
Committed Funds: $93,226.23
Available Funds: $44,377.82

The “bank” will be open all summer in the Mirror Room during Monday morning coffee. The auditor report has been completed and posted in the Craft Room. The conclusion is that “everything has been properly reflected and the treasurer’s report work accurate”. Annual income tax filed and paid. The fee was $230.00.

TANGLEWOOD’S COMMUNITY MANAGER REPORT: TAMMY MARTIN
Ms. Martin was not present.

TANGLEWOOD ACTIVITY DIRECTOR’S REPORT: BILLIE PEMENTAL-LOPEZ
A brief overview of monthly activities was provided; including May, June, July, August and September. A reminder was given that all newsletter content needs to be turned into Billie by the 15th of the prior month. She knows that we are “somewhat delinquent” in getting this information to her; she will continue to send out notices.

The following committees provided reports:

COMPUTER CLUB:
The next scheduled meeting is Friday, May 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Past discussion and future discussion have and will center around Cloud Services and the internet; along with a Q & A session. Windows 10 upgrade will also be discussed. The Maintenance Committee will take the summer off and not resume until October. There will be no club newsletter or meeting in June. We will resume in July per our usual schedule.

COUNTRY BREAKFAST:

No Country Breakfast Report

DECORATING:
The lobby has been changed to reflect Memorial Day. Table decorations will be made for the Memorial Day dinner. No summer meetings. We will resume in September. After Memorial Day decorating Father’s Day will take center stage; followed by July 4th. Potluck dinner tables have been decorated also. We also make sure that Billie has seasonal arrangements in her office.

SPECIAL EVENTS:
Season tickets are still on sale in Billie’s office throughout the summer months. Resident seasonal tickets are $80 and non-resident tickets are $90. Individual show tickets still remain at $15. The schedule for the new year has been completed with the exception of November 3rd; which should be finalized soon.

TWRTIMES:
Readership remains high. Seasonal residents check in periodically. We will be running our summer game in June, July and August. Details will be announced on June 1st. Cash prizes will be awarded for each of the three months. There will be no meeting in June and we will keep you apprised about any meeting in July.

TENNIS:
Our summer schedule is Monday and Friday 9:00 a.m. Added changes may occur by full time residents. Open play is always welcome. No dogs allowed on the court. Our next meeting is scheduled for October.

DIVERSIONS:
Sevens card game will continue throughout the summer every second Monday of the moth at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Blind Draw returns on May 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Club House. Cost is $1.00. Fourth of July will commence with the annual 4th of July Golf Cart Parade. There is no cost to register.

Craft Fair tables are still available for purchase. Table cost is $5.00.

Registration forms are available for the lip sync contest which is scheduled for October 19th. Team registrations are $10.00. All proceeds go to the Heartland Food Bank.

PETANQUE:
Petanque is moving along fine. Play is 9:30 a.m. every day.

LIBRARY:
For the month of April, the library checked in, and filed 1,077 books and DVD’s. For the fiscal year, the library checked in and filed 2,384 items. The library committee will not meet during the months of June, July and August. However, we will staff the library every day to check in books.

SHUFFLEBOARD:
A Few members will continue to play during the summer months.; Monday through Friday @ 9:30 a.m. This is a good time to learn the game. New players are always welcome.

GLASS SHOP:
Our members really appreciate the new A/C unit. Glass fusion and orientation will be held this month on the 24th. Three members have joined this month. Most classes will re-start in November.

TABLE GAMES:
There is nothing new to report for this month.

WATER VOLLEYBALL:
With summer looming our participation is down to an average of thirty players. We are getting new players. During the summer months of June, July and August, HTA employees will play against the residents on the third Friday of the month.

WELCOME COMMITTEE:
The committee did not meet this month. There will be no meetings during the summer.

OLD BUSINESS:
Tom McKeever passed out the Zero Tolerance Policy to all members present.

A motion to accept the Policy was made by Dennis Tewksbury with support from John McKinney.

The Tech Committee made a request for $9,000 for new equipment. A paper ballot was passed out for approval. There were 17 yes votes and one no vote. It passed by a majority vote.

NEW BUSINESS:
John McKinney expressed a desire to purchase a fire and waterproof sage for all TMAC documents. Cost was $55.00; plus hanging files. Total cost: $64.99. A motion was made to allow John to spend up to $100. John McKinney made a motion and support was provided by Gerry Humphrey.

Tom McKeever spoke to taking the summer months off. It was agreed that June, July, August, and September would “go dark”. TMAC meeting will resume in October; third Wednesday, the 16th. A hand vote ensured and it passed unanimously.

A motion was made to adjourn by Lois Eberly and support from Shirley Kabet.

NEXT MONTHLY MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 16TH AT 3:00 P.M. IN THE CLUB HOUSE.
