Bean Bag Baseball – Week 7

This past Wednesday October 30, the ‘Cross Over’ section of our schedule continued with the American League teams having both games as the home team. Heading down the stretch of the regular season schedule we have just 1 more week until the ‘seeds’ for the SUPER WEDNESDAY Tournament will be decided. Like last week our coverage will be court by court, following the home team American League….let’s get to it.

CT 1…TOSS UPS (Home) ⚾️ The Toss Ups first game of the night was against the red hot BB Busters who stretched their winning streak to 5 games by squeaking out a 6-5 win over the Toss Ups, courtesy of some clutch ‘hitting’ by the Busters. Game 2 saw the Toss Ups welcoming the BB Burners to court with fireworks from the get go as these 2 teams exploded for 36 runs….in the end the Toss Ups came out on top 19-17.  Toss Ups get a split on the night and remain in 3rd place in the American League with 14 pts.

CT 2…PATRIOTS (Home) ⚾️ The Patriots have cooled off as of late but still have been scoring runs, just not enough in this particular game. Game 1 had the BB Burners pay a visit who out of nowhere have found their sweet spot by blasting the Patriots….BB Burners 16 Patriots 9. The late match had the high flying National League leading Dynamites look to put another notch on their belt….EXCEPT the Patriots had other ideas by surprising the Dynamites 11-6 in the nightcap. Keep in mind the Dynamites had only lost 1 game so far, so this Patriots win is a huge confidence builder, and is our GAME OF THE WEEK. Patriots split on the night and remain in 4th in the American League with 13 pts.

CT 3…SOMEBODIES (Home) ⚾️ The Somebodies hooked up and derailed the WS Express in Game 1 by the score of 17-2. The game included a 10 run mercy ruling in the 4th for the Somebodies as they continue to chase down the American leading Grasshoppers. Game 2 had old rivals the Firecrackers looking to blow up the Somebodies game but fell short.  Somebodies 10 Firecrackers 8. Somebodies take the sweep on the night and move into 1st place in the American with 18 pts.

CT 4…LIGHTNING (Home) ⚾️ The Lightning welcomed the Firecrackers in Game 1 with electricity in the air…for the first 3 innings. All 18 runs for both teams crossed the plate by the end of the 3rd, and then all went quiet. Firecrackers ground the Lightning 12-6. Game 2 was a tough matchup for the Bolts as the BB Busters, proud owners of a 5 game winning streak coming to town. The Lightning strike and end the Busters win streak with a tight 10-8 victory. Lightning move into a tie for 4th in the American League with 13 pts.

CT 5…GRASSHOPPERS (Home) ⚾️ The Grasshoppers and Dynamites met for the battle of the League leaders (at the start of the evening) in Game 1. Down by 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th the Grasshoppers rally big time, bringing across 5 runs and earn a much deserved 10-10 tie with the Dynamites. Game 2 had our dear Bag Ladies fill their carts with runs in every inning on their way to a 10-7 win over the surprised Grasshoppers. Grasshoppers get a tie and a loss on the evening and fall to 2nd place in the American League with 17 pts.

CT 6…PIONEERS (Home) ⚾️ The once red hot Pioneers hosted our Bag Ladies in Game 1 on Court 6.  Never a dull moment in any of the Bag Ladies games, home or away, the Pioneers saw first hand why the Bag Ladies will be a dangerous team in the upcoming tournament. Despite the Pioneers scoring 14 runs in the last 3 innings, the Bag Ladies prevail and win the shoot out 18-15. Game 2 had the WS Express pull into station in a much lower scoring game. Pioneers hang on and take it 5-4.  Pioneers get the split and remain in 6th place with 10 pts.

BBBL action continues on Wednesday, November 6 at 6pm in the Clubhouse. All teams will be playing 1 home and 1 visitor game to end our regular season schedule….and then on to our elimination tournament beginning on Wednesday, November 13.  More details to follow.
