Petanque-December/2019 Tournament

The Petanque Committee held their tournament on Saturday, December 7 with 80 players participating. After Tournament Co-Coordinator Greg Plank checked all the players in, the twenty team tournament was set in motion at 9am sharp with a blast of the air horn by Chair Warren Smith. Conditions were near perfect at 60F, humidity mid 60’s and a slight NE 4mph breeze. By the finals the temp rose to a comfy 75F under partly cloudy skies. The tournament featured 2 start times due to the extra 4 teams from the usual 16 team tourney, some extremely close games, including an unusually low 7-6 game in the 1st round. Let’s get to results….

Congrats to the ‘A’ Flight Champs who ran the day, going undefeated for the tournament. High Fives All Round for….(L-R) Larry Bowman, Kathy Keller, Dianne Hollinger, and Mick Karchinski.  Great job!

On the flip side Congrats to our ‘B’ Flight Champs (L-R) Kevin Waterman, Pam Pelletier, Marge Carney, and Jim Goff. Our ‘B’ Champs overcame a first round loss and went undefeated the rest of the day.

As always it takes many hands to put together a tournament, including the players. Thank You to all who participated, and to those that helped with the setup and tear down.
