From Your Community Manager
Happy New Year Tanglewood, hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

It is unbelievable that the holidays have come and gone. Parties, Christmas caroling, and golf cart parades are long gone for another year. We have all had way too much to eat, and our new year’s resolutions are on our mind. We have all promised ourselves that we will attend exercise classes, yoga, swim laps in the pool, walk or ride our bikes. I hope to see you all there.

We are back to enjoying the lifestyle of friendships and guests who have arrived for the warm climates. As we are at full capacity for the winter season, please be mindful of the speed limits, and be aware of traffic flow. Those riding bikes, walking, or in a golf carts make sure that you are wearing light colored clothing and carrying a flashlight.

The gate code will be changing January 13th. This is for resident use only. Please do not give the code out. You can come to the office, and we can put your phone number in the gate. Then your visitor would put your house number in, and you would be able to let your guest, your health care worker or vendor in.

We know as things move along numbers and emergency contacts change. So if you have any changes to your phone numbers or emergency contacts, please stop by the office and update that information. You can write it down and drop it off with your rent or stop by and get a cookie while you are there. We do have an update form in the office.

Happy New Year,
Darlene D Bradley

“The New Year lies ahead
With books to be read,
And adventures to be led,
May you find fulfillment and joy
All year long!”

TANGLEWOOD ART LEAGUE NEWS
Art Exhibition and Sale:
We are very excited and proud to announce that the Tanglewood Art League is celebrating the 10th anniversary of our Art Exhibition and Sale on Saturday, January 18th.

We have hit a milestone and wish to thank all our patrons who have supported our efforts to award two monetary gifts each year to two deserving art students at South Florida State College.

Come join the celebration in the Tanglewood Club House from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. As we have for the past ten years, we will be selling $5.00 raffles at the door for two prizes.

One is a framed glicee print by Peter Powell Roberts, donated by Norma Evans. The second is a glicee canvas photo print by James Waldron.

The winners of these prizes will be announced the same afternoon. Light refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you on this happy day.

Special Workshop:
Artist, Llewellyn Rinald, visited our Art League last spring and everyone who attended the program was so enthused with her artistic ability and lovely personality that we invited her to hold a workshop this January.

The workshop date is January 20th at 2:00 pm in the Craft Room. We are inviting residents of Tanglewood to join us.

Llewellyn works in many different mediums. For Tanglewood, she will be creating a personal multi-media piece of work.

She has suggested that those wishing to attend, start collecting either personal items including any scrap of paper, fabric or anything with texture as these will be included in your piece. You will be amazed by her work and what you can accomplish.

There is a sign-up sheet in the Art League Club Book on the credenza which also lists materials needed. I do want to mention that Llewellyn will not be charging for this workshop.

WOW
WOW Widows will have their first lunch of 2020 on January 16th at Sizzling Grill. Meet at clubhouse at 12:15 for 1 pm lunch.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY CONCERT BAND

Tanglewood residents in the band are: Mary Kloster, Betty Schleis, Dolores Smith and Tom Stadler.
Plan to have a great evening while supporting fellow Tanglewooders.

Tickets are just $8.00 and can be purchased from any of the above band members.

RV CLUB FOOD DRIVE FINALE
A special thank you goes to ALL who donated to the Christmas Food Drive. We were able to donate $13,835 to the Heartland Food Bank to provide Christmas meals for the many families in need right here in Highlands County.

First of all, we would like to THANK each and every Tanglewood resident who donated to this worthy cause. A big THANK YOU goes out to our own Tanglewood Community Church for their donation of $2000. We are so blessed to receive their donation to the Christmas Drive every year. Another big THANK YOU goes to Hometown America for their $2500 gift. And the many, many THANK YOUs continue!

The hard-working members of the Bingo Committee, Dance Committee, and Diversions Committee certainly did their part to help reach that amazing final total.

The Quilting Group had their needles and scissors busy this year, along with those workers who sold hundreds of raffle tickets. Who can forget those beautiful, colorful quilts that were raffled off at the Garage Sale? Apparently, the quilts were well liked since a whopping $600 was raised!

Alan Holmes, of Edward Jones, has always been a good friend of Tanglewood. This year leading up to his retirement, Alan was kind enough to donate $450 to this year’s Food Drive. He supplied the funds to purchase restaurant gift cards and additional gifts for a special drawing on December 16 where six lucky recipients walked away with a little extra. He also made a cash donation. Thank You Alan!

Of course, none of this could have been done without the behind the scene workers of the Christmas Food Drive Committee from the RV Club. Howie and Lynda Palmer along with Terry and Cindy Muldoon, and Marg Carney handled the table at Monday Coffee this year to collect money. Marg Carney, Dave and Linda Clonts, Karen Kirk, Curt and Sandra McMenany, Bill and Nancy Mills, Terry and Cindy Muldoon, Heather Paine, Lynda Palmer, and Barbara St. Jacques ran our Craft Fair tables where more money was raised than we have ever done before at the craft fair with our state baskets.

Ruth Barron, former club chair, used her many years of expertise making personal contacts with the many generous groups. Heather Paine helped in a very long list of ways, especially keeping the RV Club members, many of whom were scattered around the country, apprised of what needed to be accomplished.

Tanglewood you have a right to be proud of your efforts. The $13,835 cash donation gave our residents the distinction of being #2 in Highlands County for helping the Highlands County Food Bank. Who was #1? Publix!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
