Benefits of Pets


As we age, we tend to become more isolated, unable to do the activities we enjoyed previously.  Some people become depressed. Especially if we’ve lost a love one and are now living alone.  Pets, dogs or cats, can help us.

Dogs and cats live in the moment.  They don’t worry about yesterday or tomorrow.  Which in turn, makes

us focus on the moment. There’s nothing like being greeted at the door from a pet.  They are so happy to see us.  They make us forget about our aches and pains, if only for a little while.  

Pets give our daily life structure.  You have to get out of bed to feed them, exercise them.  There is a social connection with other pet owners as well.  There hasn’t been a day that I don’t see a group of dogs (and their owners) conversing in the park.  Puts a smile on my face every time.

Plus, think about this from the pet’s point of view.  If you got your dog/cat from a rescue center (bless you!) imagine the  life these animals would have had, compared to the wonderful life they are now living. 

I myself, have fish.  I find them tranquil and serene.  That’s part of the deal. You need to find out the pet that fits your lifestyle and physical capabilities.
