Hypersona Encore

Hypersona Band Will Return here for New Year's Eve 2020.

Saturday, February 8th the Dance Committee held its routine monthly dance. It was anything BUT routine. Doors opened at 6:00 PM.  Residents were waiting in the lobby at 5:45 (Tanglewood time). The band was set to start playing at 7:00 pm. But, party hogs that we are, wanted to get a good table so they came early carrying snacks, alcohol, and decorations. As the audience continued to arrive in groups of 4-8, they were privileged to watch the band warm up, test the sound system, lights, camera and action. The music style was not country, instead, a wide variety of pop songs from the 70s,80s played continuously throughout the evening. It was a great evening listening to familiar songs and dancing practically nonstop.

The tech booth crew had some fun with the ‘Kiss Cam’ as they zoomed in on couples talking while the crowd watched their faces when they saw themselves on the big screen. They soon realized the intent and we were privy to a few REALLY great kissers! The band even took a few requests as they played Happy Birthday to a shy resident while her husband Herm, passed around chocolate cupcakes.

Red 50/50 tickets came with a first prize of $200.00 and second prize of $100.00. A little blue ticket was given out with each strip of 50/50s allowing for a surprise giveaway of numerous $10 gift certificates from Cody’s,Olive Garden and more.

All in all, it was quite an entertaining evening with an awesome band called Hypersona. The drummer was amazing, and the two guitar players, youngest was 19 years old, were dueling throughout the evening. Can’t wait to see them here again for New Year’s Eve!!
