Meanwhile, Back at Tanglewood: March 26, 2020
Look up, feel the breeze, enjoy the sun and the shade. Reflect on life. Ah, front porch sittin’! Nancy Foley, TWR Times writer for the Church News column, has been appreciating her own Tanglewood front porch and the zephyr-like breezes that offer cool in the heat of the day. The porch has always been there and, yet, have you found yourself more quieted within and more drawn to some simple front porch sitting lately? Or, pulled toward some lanai chillaxing?
A whole bevy of little tasks or pastimes can take place on your porch, lanai or driveway under the carport. The second you step outside, everything comes into better perspective. Here is the view of neighbors and sun and the palms that sway rhythmically in the wispy Sebring wind. At night, it is almost magical to sit outside and feel the stillness around you.
But now, in the filtered light of the trees, I am reminded of the words Jane Austen wrote, “To sit in the shade on a fine day, and look upon verdure, is the most perfect refreshment.”
