Restaurants are opening, restaurants have closed.
The dining scene around Sebring continues to change on a daily basis it seems. With COVID Craziness still a daily reality, we have found we are staying home more often than not. Instead of a review this month I wanted to share some of the recent restaurant “news” from around town.
As you probably know, The Fairmount Ale House closed before getting themselves up and running.
Just a few doors down from the closed Ale House, Maryland Fried Chicken will be OPENING SOON in “the old Mexican place”. This will be a second location in addition to the one in Avon Park.
After a few delays, Homer’s Original Smorgasbord is hoping to open Thursday, October 15. They are still waiting on their final inspection from the county. Their Facebook page states they have over 100 items served daily and safe dine in practices are in place. They are scheduled to be open 11 a.m. to 8:00 pm with Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday being “Steak Night” from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. with Tuesday and Friday be being Seafood Night from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. as well. Sunday’s special is turkey, ham, and roast beef all day long. I only had the opportunity to dine at Homer’s once last fall and was far from impressed with the quality of the food and outdated decor. Once they’ve have had time to work through the “grand opening” kinks I will certainly venture over to see what they have to offer now.
We were surprised to see a sign on the door at Jimmy’s Greek American Grill “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are closed until further notice”.
Coffee Culture which was located in the Village Fountain Plaza has permanently closed after a short stint in their spacious location.
All American Bar & Grill on Sebring Parkway is now Dave’s American Bar & Grill. Their Facebook page is promoting “ladies night”, a DJ on Fridays and televised sporting events with limited information on their menu. The location no longer serves breakfast .
Fork & Folk Bistro on West Center near the Circle has closed and the new restaurant in that location is called Argana Diner. Argana offers Halal & Mediterranean Cuisine along with a wide variety of pastries.
And finally, I just saw The Jacaranda has returned and is now offering lunch Sunday-Friday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. No details on social distancing set up.
I look forward to getting back out there and checking out more of the local Sebring restaurants myself. However, in the mean time If you have any restaurant news or suggestions on one to review, drop me note at firstname.lastname@example.org
