Lip Sync Showdown Has New Date

The Diversions Committee (Just for Fun!) has moved the date of the Lip Sync showdown to Sunday, October 24.  This move will allow more teams to compete, and not compete with Trips and Travel’s bus to Mt. Dora.

If you’re new to Tanglewood in the past 2 years, the Lip Sync showdown is a major fundraiser for the Heartland Food Bank’s Thanksgiving fund drive.  You  are invited to form a team, anywhere from one to a hundred people, and choose a song to perform.  Since it’s a lip sync, you are not singing at all.  The game is raised by your acting out the song, your costumes, and to a lesser degree, your props.  For example, the winning team three years ago did “Leader of the Pack”, with a mini-bike, black leather jacket, and hysterical females.  A simple solo act can be just as effective with the right song, as in the Kingston Trio’s “Merry Minuet”.

Each team pays $10 to perform, no matter how many members there are.  There is one tech rehearsal on Thursday, October 21.   For more information, and to register your song, contact Shirley at shirlkab@embarqmail.com.  You can choose any kind of song – folk, country, pop rock, crooner, – whatever.
