New Year: New Attitude

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.” ESV 42:5-6a

As we look back at 2021, it has been a tough year. A year of family members and friends who have died from Covid, a year that many of us have been in quarantine because of Covid, a year of rising prices, a year of empty shelves, a year of violence in many of the major cities of our nation, a year of a break down of the law of the land where individuals just walk into stores and take what they want without fear of arrest! I could go on, but you get the picture.

There have also been high points in 2021, Babies being born, neighbors helping neighbors, churches doing great ministries in the community, couples getting married establishing Christian Homes, getting together for the holidays, sports being played, kids in school and so many more.

Let us begin 2022 saying, “This is the year that the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it!” The Psalmist in Psalm 42:5-6a was depressed, but he asked the right question, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? However, he did come up with the right answer, “Hope in God, I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.” No matter what happens in 2022, God is in control and we can find peace and comfort in Him. It all comes down to two attitudes – will we trust God in all things in our lives rather good or bad – or will we live in our own strength! But, the Psalmist says, “My God!” That is the question we must all ask ourselves: is He, my God?” An Everlasting Word!!!!
