Who was Cain’s Wife?

Who was Cain’s Wife?   (Gen. 4:16-17)

Introduction: Today is Mother’s Day!  A day set aside to honor our mothers. And we want to wish all our moms, a very happy Mother’s Day!

I want to talk to us for a few minutes this morning about “A Mother’s Influence.” Abraham Lincoln said, ”No one is poor who had a godly mother.” He went on to say, ”I remember my mother’s prayers, and they have followed me; they have clung to me all my life. All that I am and hope to be I owe to my Angel mother.” A mother’s influence is of great importance because they have such a major impact on our lives.
This morning I want to bring that point home by talking about a woman in the Bible of which we know nearly nothing about, but who is the most talked about wife and mother in history “Cain’s wife.” The Bible does not provide the name of Cain’s wife. Neither does it provide any other information about her. There but this single reference to her existence found here in Genesis 4:17 — “Cain knew his wife and she conceived and bore Enoch.” But I believe this single reference may show us the enormous role of a wife and mother in the home. She wasn’t a perfect wife or mother, but I think she must have been a very influential one.

Conclusion I believe Cain’s wife shows us the enormous role of a wife and mother in the home. (She wasn’t a perfect wife or mother, but I think she was probably a very influential one)
