Walk All Summer

So it’s over 85* before 8:00 in the morning.  You certainly don’t want to go out for your usual 3 mile walk around Tanglewood.  There’s an option, folks.

There’s a group of women and men who meet in the Clubhouse at 8:00 AM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  Someone plunks a video into the player and the class begins.  It’s called “Walk Away the Pounds”, and it’s adaptable for all fitness levels.  Even us not-so-fit folks.

The skinny and perky leader on the video is Leslie, and she’ll take you through 50 minutes of regular walking, knee lifts, side steps and kicks.  The lessons start easy and work up to Sweat City.  But several times during each video Leslie warns us, “Don’t do more than you should.  Don’t try to keep up with me if you’re a beginner.  In time you’ll manage, just do what you can and rest when you need to.”  There are several different videos, they all take us through the equivalent of a 3 mile walk.

The class is free, no registration or commitment is asked.  Men are encouraged to join, after all, what else can you do at 8:00 in the morning?  Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable walking shoes.  Stretch bands are welcome but not a necessity.

Come and watch once, you’ll be back.
