Noun

An aquatic opossum found in South America.

The Bronx Zoo was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a yapock to complete their South American Riverlands exhibit.

This one gets its name from the river where the little darlings were first observed, the Oyapock river in the northern portion of South America.  I am pretty sure the river did not get the name from Latin.
