Still Called, Still Sent (Part 8)
A Life Still Worth Building
(Acts 11:19–26)
Introduction: Encouragement has the power to shape lives or leave deep voids when absent (Bill Glass).
Barnabas, whose name means “Son of Encouragement” (Acts 4:36), earned his nickname by lifting others up in the faith. This passage in Acts 11 shows us the lasting power of spiritual encouragement. God calls all believers, regardless of age, to build people, not monuments. Our greatest legacy may be the encouragement we give to those who follow after us in faith.

Faith That Stands the Test
Text: Acts 7:54–60
Introduction: Life is often an endurance contest—especially in later years. Like marathoner John Stephen Akhwari, we are not just called to start the race of faith, but to finish well. In Acts 7:54–60, Stephen’s story shows us what enduring, Christlike, legacy-leaving faith looks like. Even in our latter seasons of life, we are still called and still sent to live for His glory.

God’s Power in Ordinary People
Acts 6:1–8
Introduction: God is not finished with you. There is no “spiritual retirement.” God uses seasoned hearts to meet real needs. God’s Word is filled with stories of people whom He used in powerful ways during their later years:
- Moses was 80 when called at the burning bush (Exodus 7:7).
- Caleb conquered giants at 85 (Joshua 14:10–12).
- Anna and Simeon faithfully served and bore witness to Christ in the temple (Luke 2:25–38).
“As long as we have breath, God has a purpose and plan for our life. He’s not finished with us yet.” God’s power flows through ordinary people when they are willing to serve.

“A Testimony with a Long Memory”
Text: Acts 4:5–13
Introduction: The longer you walk with Jesus, the more “memories with God” you accumulate — answered prayers, miracles witnessed, lessons learned, trials overcome by His grace.
Your life of faith gives weight to your witness — the longer the journey, the more powerful the story.

Hope for the Weary Text: Acts 3:1–10
Introduction: Life has a way of wearing us down doesn’t it? (Someone joked that the “golden years” are named for all the gold we spend at the doctor!) Many of us can relate – waking up with new aches, feeling our strength isn’t what it used to be.
But there is good news! God can still raise up what feels worn down — He delights in restoring joy and strength to the weary.

Empowered for a Purpose
Acts 2:1–21
Introduction: Today as we continue our current sermon series, we’ll be diving into Acts 2:1–21, the story of Pentecost, when God kept His promise and gave His Holy Spirit to empower His people.
This passage of scripture – serves as a great reminder that the same Holy Spirit that came on the day of Pentecost, is alive and active in us, here today!

The Promise Still Stands
Acts 1:1–11
Introduction: It’s the second Sunday after Easter — the lilies are fading, the eggs are eaten, and the grandkids have gone back home.
But here’s the question for us today: What now?
What are we supposed to do in the wake of the resurrection?
Today we begin a new sermon series I have entitled, “Still Called, Still Sent,” that will answer that question.
Easter wasn’t the end of the story, nor was it ever intended to be — it was the beginning of a movement.
In Acts chapter 1, we see Jesus, risen from the grave, standing with His disciples one last time before ascending into heaven — and He leaves them with something powerful: The promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit.
