This is an old-timey recipe, and still very good.
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup molasses
1 cup boiling water
2 eggs, well beaten
