Pray Like Moses (Part 6)

The Legacy of a Man of Prayer

(Numbers 27:15–23; Psalm 90)

Introduction: After 40 years of leading Israel toward the Promised Land, Moses learns he will not enter it (Num. 27). How does he respond? Not with self-pity, but with prayer for the people’s future. Moses’ selfless prayer at the end of his life highlights the legacy of prayer he left behind. In this final “Pray Like Moses” message, we see Moses finish well – on his knees – and consider how we can leave a legacy of faith through prayer.

Show Me Your Glory – Intimate Prayer for God’s Presence

Exodus 33:12–23; 34:5–9, 29–35

Introduction: After Israel’s golden calf sin (Ex. 32:1–14), God offered the land with an angel—but not His presence (Ex. 33:1–3). Moses knew gifts without the Giver are not enough: “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here” (Ex. 33:15–16). Moses then prays two bold prayers: “Go with us” (presence) and “Show me Your glory” (deeper revelation) (Ex. 33:15–18).

“Standing in the Breach”

Exodus 32:7–14

Introduction: If you’ve ever messed up—big or small—or know someone who did and wondered whether there was any hope, then today’s message is for you. We’re going to look at one of the greatest moments of intercession in all Scripture:

Israel sinned greatly at Mount Sinai by worshiping a golden calf. God’s wrath burned, threatening to destroy the nation. Moses “stood in the breach” (Ps. 106:23), pleading for mercy.

The lesson: Even when people fail, prayer can make the difference.
