TMAC Committee Reports  November 2025

BINGO – Richard B., Chairman,  Verbal report.  BINGO is going well.

Computer Club – Jeff Laurion, Chairman,  Topic of our monthly meeting was on Artificial Intelligence (AI)and it’s use in current business today. We talked about the need to get familiar with it’s use and to not be intimidated by it. We share where people in the group had come in contact with AI, call centers, online orders, and medical care. We also talked about downloading of free AI software so that we can play with get familiar with the technology and how it can help us be more efficient.

Country Breakfast – Steve Sykes, Chairman  Verbal Report: Last Saturday served 104 guests. Next breakfast is December 20th.

Dance, Robin Meyer, Chairman ..The Halloween dance went great with over 350 people in attendance.  Next dance is Nov. 22   Not many tickets sold in advance. Sales for the New Years dance are off to a good start.

Decorating – Gail Wooley, Chairman,..We decorated for HTA Veterans Luncheon. Decorated for Potluck. Decorated tables for Special Meals.

DIVERSIONS: Betsey Ellis, Secretary.. Verbal Report: Kathy Wyatt will be overseeing the garage sale. Friday evening 6-8pm residents only. Saturday doors open at 7:45 to general public. Open until 11am. Annual Christmas party, cart parade, bean bag baseball etc. See Newsletter and TWRTimes for details.

Genealogy – Mary Ann Jones, Chairman..We had our first meeting of the season on November 5 th . Our discussion topic was the use of Artificial Intelligence in genealogy research, and a short video was shown on this subject. Donavan Johnston of the LDS Genealogy Library in Sebring will speak to us at our December 3 rd meeting on AI and new Family Search techniques. Our board held a planning meeting on November 13 th to prepare topics for the season. We will present a beginner’s workshop on January 30 th which is open to all Tanglewood residents and registered guests, as are all our monthly meetings.

Glass Shop – Melanie Miller, Chairman.. Craft Fair Saturday, November 8, 2025. The glass shop ran the kitchen for the craft show. We offered to vendors and patrons Coffee and sweet breads, which were made by members of the shop. We also offered for lunch, charcuterie boxes containing an assortment of crackers, meats, grapes, carrots and dip, some cookies and a thank you kiss. Sales were not as good as we hoped. At the end of the day, we donated the remaining boxes to the veteran’s picnic, scheduled for Tuesday.  We also had 2 tables at the fair and had a fair showing. We have scheduled for December a workshop where they will be making fused glass votives. In January, we will have another 5-week stained glass class and a 4-week fused glass class, along with 2 workshops. Mosaics is in the works for late February/March. Our next meeting is scheduled for November 25.

Library – Mary Cousins, Chairman… We had a very busy November and the months leading up to at the library preparing for the November Garage Sale.  We sell coffee and doughnuts for The Garage Sale.  As well as selling the extra books from the library that we have available from our Library since our last sale.  In November we have a ton of them.  We are hoping sales will go well.

Model Yacht Club: Jim Child, Chairman..   Verbal report: busy summer boating…Tournaments begin in January. All are welcome.

Monday Morning Coffee – Polly Grant, Chairman..   No report. No representation.

Pétanque Committee Report –Gary Braun, Chairman.. On November 1st, 2025, we held our Pétanque Tournament with Forty-Eight players. During intermission players were served hotdogs, chips, and water.  W-W-W-W First Place Champions (L-R) Lynn Braun, Bob Thulin, and Joanne Roy.  W-W-W-L Second Place Winners (L-R) Joyce Robbins, Jennifer Digiovanni, and Duane Hite.  W-W-L-W Consolation Winners (L-R) Jose’ Olarte, Cathy Porrini, and Mary Hohensee.  W-L-W-W Consolation Winners (L-R) Gil Roy, Machelle Richman, and Gary Williamson.  L-W-W-W Consolation Winners (L-R) Catherine Smith, Missy Cullina, and Chris Wills.  Congrats to all the tournament winners, 50/50 winners and other door prize winners. A special  thanks to all the volunteers that continue to make this event possible. If you’re new to Tanglewood or just never played Pétanque before, come on out and try it. Winter Schedule: 1:00PM Monday-Saturday; Mondays and Thursdays at 10:00AM. New Player Clinics are available at 12:45PM Monday-Saturday.  We also have equipment for first-time players to try before they buy. Who knows, your name  might be among the tournament winners next month.

Potluck:  Jeff Nauman, Chairman.. Verbal Report: Held Potluck with 70 people attending.  Several door prizes given away.

Special Events: Archie Sapato, Chairman.. Verbal Report: Dec. 7th Groove Slayers, Rock N Roll, some Christmas music, Nov 29th HOA holding a dance. Tell everyone who isn’t here about the events coming up: Dance 22nd, 29th, and Special Events Dec 7th.

SPECIAL MEALS: Nola Bernstein, Chairman.. Verbal Report Held Special Meals Thanksgiving dinner last night with 160 people attending. No meal in December. Next meal is January 20, 2026.

SHUFFLEBOARD: Pat Parks, Chairman.. No report. No representation

Table Games – Machelle Richman, Chairman.  Verbal Report.  Table games is going strong. Using all the boards for Aggravation. Play on Saturdays in the Community Room.

Tanglewood DOG Sandra McMenamy, Chairman..  No Report. No representation.

Tennis – Gerry Bentley, Chairman.. We’re playing tennis every Monday, Wednesday & Friday @9am. 2. All residents & guests are invited to play tennis with us. 3. We have extra tennis racquets available in our shed if needed. 4. Free lessons are available if wanted for all levels. 5. You do not have to sign up, just come to the courts while we’re playing & you will be welcome. 6. We are a fun group of all levels. We need more players!

TECH Support – John Lemek, Chairman.. Tech support has been busy preparing for the fall season of Events. Our first Special Event was Nov 9th and was a great success. Most of our snowbirds have returned. Reminder to turn in your Tech Requests Forms as early as possible, but no later than the 4th Monday of month, prior to your event. Please have your event date cleared with Ann-Marie. Forms are available in the doorway of the Tech Booth. 

Trips & Travel – Jeff Nauman, Member.. Verbal report at the meeting listing upcoming events. Saint Augustine, Key West and more. They will not be at MMC for the next two Mondays due to being on Trips.

Shuffleboard – Pat Parks, Chairman  No Report: No Representation. 

Welcome Committee Mary Lee Cipriano, Chairman.. The Welcome Committee happily helped at the first annual Fall Festival. What a great event for  Tanglewood. The new and improved Welcome Folders are now ready for us to distribute to new residents. There are 8 additional pages of information in the new books. If you offer a service and want your business care in our folders, just give me ONE business card. We photocopy the cards by category so no one can lose your card. Our October Dinner Out was at the Olympic Restaurant, full house, and a great time was had by all. The December Xmas Dinner Out is at the Jacaranda Dec 5 and is sold out with a waiting list. If you can’t make it, please let us know so someone from the wait list can take your place.  The Garage Sale is this weekend. The Welcome Committee is running the Bargain Basement. Bring your unwanted stuff to the Community Room between 3-5pm. All proceeds go to the Welcome Committee to fund our New Resident Gala. The Gala is coming! Have you signed up yet for your table? We will do the passports again this year. It worked so well last time and so many of you told us how well it worked for you! Date is Jan 23 from 1-3. I’m asking your committee or group to be there by 12:30 to set up. We are providing your table, tablecloth, and sign. You need to provide a handout with the name of the Committee or group, meeting date and time, person in charge and contact info. Also bring something that you can use to sign the passports. We need time to make sure your committee is IN the passport and that we have a sign made up for you. Sign up now.

Woodshop – Steve Batey, Chairman.. We will have our first meeting of the season on Nov 11. Our snowbirds are returning and the shop is getting more use. All is going good at this time.
