Dinner with Jesus (Part 8)
Breakfast with the Risen King (John 21:1–17)
Vision (2026): Strain to Love: Sharing the Table of Christ
Mission: Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged
Introduction: Welcome to the final message in our Dinner with Jesus series. Throughout this journey, we’ve seen Jesus dine with sinners and saints, challenge religious hypocrisy, and demonstrate grace around the table. But today, we come not to dinner, but to breakfast—and not just any breakfast, this breakfast is being cooked by the Lord Jesus Himself over an open fire. And as the Good Shepherd becomes the Good Chef.
At this meal we’ll see Jesus restores and recommissions us after failure.

The Table of Discipleship
(Luke 10:38–42)
Vision: Strain to Love: Sharing the Table of Christ
Mission: Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged
Introduction: As strange as it may sound, it is still true; sitting with Jesus matters more than serving Him.
Our dinner with Jesus today “The table of Discipleship” teaches us that true discipleship prioritizes being with Jesus over doing for Jesus.
As the old saying goes, “Don’t get so involved in the work of the Lord that you forget the Lord of the work.”

“The Table of Forgiveness”
Luke 7:36–50
2026 Vision: “Straining to Love: Sharing the Table of Christ”
Mission: “Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged”
Introduction: In our Scripture today, Jesus is dining at the home of a religious leader when an unexpected guest crashes the dinner. The unfolding scene is both shocking and beautiful. It teaches us that Jesus’ table is a place of forgiveness and restoration for those who humbly seek Him. But it also challenges us: As we are reminded of our church vision for 2026 “Straining to love, that “Love is our action, with a mission of “Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged (and some of them won’t be exactly like us).

The Call to the Table
Luke 5:27-32
Introduction: As we step into a new year, I would like our church to embrace a new vision called, Strain to Love: Sharing the Table of Christ
Vision 2026 – “Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged”
1 Peter 4:8 – “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
This new vision will challenge us to intentionally engage one another and our neighbors with Christ-like love a love that “goes the extra mile, welcomes all to the table, and makes room for those who need to see Jesus in us,” as our vision statement declares.
In 2026, we want to see “Every Chair Filled, Every Heart Engaged.” In other words, no one should be left out or left behind. Let’s see how Jesus did this for an outcast like Levi.
