Yes, next week we have the Second Tuesday of the month, which means it’s time for the Second Tuesday Food Drive on March 10. This month our collection is going to Hands for Homeless.
You all know by now what is needed: Pop top cans of fruit, vegetables, hearty soups, pastas. Proteins like canned chicken and tuna, baked beans and the like. Those lucky enough to have a kitchen to cook in appreciate dried pastas, pasta sauces, rice, beans, oatmeal, etc. Cereals, especially those who can be eaten without milk, like Cheerios, Chex, or Cap’n Crunch. There’s always a need for toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and bar soap.
Please help our less fortunate residents of Highlands County. Things are not getting any better for them. (Or us.) Put your donation out on your driveway by 8:30 and we will pick it up. If you’re getting ready to return to your northern home, clean out your cupboards and cabinets. Someone can use that unopened box of pancake mix. Yes, we collect from the Outback too.
