News: Just the News…
“Bad news travels like wildfire, good news travels slow” so the saying goes. But what if the information being shared is not actually bad news, but simply news? It is not a demand, nor is it a new law imposed without proper votes or discussion. Instead, it is an idea—one that someone wanted to share with those who could help shape it into something greater, and then work together to support it when it is presented to the entire community.
Responding to Misunderstandings
Unfortunately, rather than allowing the idea to develop through open conversation, a reaction reminiscent of the children’s story “Chicken Little” took hold. Panic set in among some individuals who did not have all the facts or misunderstood the intent behind the idea. Some began preparing to withdraw or distance themselves before hearing, in the words of Paul Harvey, “the rest of the story”—in other words, the full truth, or simply the facts. Today, this kind of reaction might be summed up as, “OMG, we’re all gonna die, so let’s take what we have and spend it now.” This kind of response is simply inappropriate—gross, or perhaps net?
The controversy that has emerged can be called many things, but at its core, it is best described as ‘misinformation.’
Invitation to All Tanglewood Residents
Realistically, it’s you, the Tanglewood residents, who will be most affected by any decisions made regarding this idea. Therefore, all residents are personally invited and encouraged to attend the upcoming TMAC meeting on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:00 PM inside the clubhouse. The meeting is an opportunity to hear directly from a man who rarely shares his personal thoughts publicly—someone who has a vision for making TMAC financially self-sufficient, without needing to rely on raffles and unpredictable donations.
Tanglewood residents in the audience will also have an opportunity to speak. Your voices will be heard and taken into consideration.
To those who choose not to attend because they don’t like what they’ve heard so far, (rumors at best), songwriter Chely Wright sings a country song that the words in the first line you might want to emulate.
