COUNTRY BREAKFAST – Steve Sykes, Chairman – On March 21 we served 123 meals, Next breakfast is April 18.
DANCE – Robin Meyer, Chairman – Attendance at our March dance didn’t make enough money to cover the band. Hopefully our fundraiser this Saturday will help cover the loss. April will be a Hodown themed dance.
DIVERSIONS – Pat Phillips, Chairman – Sevens on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Mondays at 1:00 in the Community Room continues to be successful with around 30 people in attendance each week. Bean Bag Baseball North and South crowned their 2025-26 Champions, and the World Series is set for March 25 in the clubhouse. Blind Draw Poker had a successful night with xxx in attendance. Tables are now on sale for both the November Craft and Hobby Fair and Garage Sale. Details are being finalized for a summer Trivia event in July.
GLASS ARTS SHOP – March 2026 monthly report, Andrea Siebert, Chairman We continue to offer a variety of classes to our members and new members. The Beginner Mosaic class finished 03/18/2026. An Advanced Stained Glass Class started 03/04/2026 and will continue for 4 weeks. The Evening time slot appears to be popular. A Beginners Fused Glass Class will start on 04/01/2026 Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-3:30. We are considering holding Beginner Classes this summer to accommodate Full Time residents who may not be able to attend during the busy Fall/Winter season. We will hold a workshop on Sunday 03/29/2026 to create ornaments for the Fall Craft Fair. We plan to offer additional workshops in the various glass mediums to prepare in advance for the Fall Craft Fair. Our new fund raiser offering aprons and tote bags to our members is going well. They have our new logo and can be customized with the member’s name. The bi-monthly Sunday Clean-up sessions are going well. We will ramp down to monthly sessions in the Summer. Our last meeting of the year will be Tuesday 03/24/2026 at 10am in the Activity Center.
Library, Mary Cousins, Chair (If any committees or members want to send me your recommendation of an author, please email/text. TMAC Officers wish to offer their condolences to the Library Committee, on behalf of Mary’s unexpected death over this past weekend. Please keep her family and Tanglewood friends in your prayers.
MODEL YACHT CLUB, Mike Way, Chairman – Our last race for this season was held March 5th. In all 319 races were completed. Myself, the current treasure and the past treasurer attended the TMAC audit on March 11. Our top 3 winners of each fleet (12 in all) received a nice gift from HTA awards. Our next meeting awards ceremony will be held Monday March 23 Most days thru the summer you can find someone sailing at the pond between 10 & 11.
Monday Coffee – Polly Grant, Chair We have now reduced our donut order to 16 dozen as attendance decreases. Leftover donuts are being taken to Bingo on Monday evening. I was on vacation from March 12-March 31. In my absence I am grateful to my co-chair Irene Sykes for filling in as well as Steve Sykes & all the rest of my committee while I was away, I thank all of them very much. It was very cold in Pennsylvania & I’m happy to come back to warmer weather! Please be aware that as of February 2027 I am stepping down as Chair. I will continue to arrange for sponsors if the new chair does not want that responsibility
Petanque, Gary Braun, Chairman On March 7th, 2026, we held our Pétanque Tournament with Forty-Eight players. During intermission players were served hotdogs, chips, and water. A special thanks to all the volunteers that continue to make this event possible. If you’re new to Tanglewood or just never played Pétanque before, come on out and try it. New Player Clinics are available at 12:45PM Monday-Saturday. We also have equipment for first-time players to try before they buy. Shuffleboard -Pat Parks, Chairman March is a busy month for shuffleboard with the majority of tournaments with other parks during that month because of usual warmer weather. March 4, 2026 – Our annual in-park appreciation day tournament was held. We played 3 games with the following winners: 1st place John Gallenberger – winning 3 games for total points of 199, 2nd place John Zieger – winning 3 games for total points of 160, 3rd place David Rembowski – winning 3 games for a total points of 152, 4th place Mickey Karchinski – winning 2 games for a total of 176 points, and 5th place Don Koning – winning 2 games for a total of 161 points A fun day. March 6, 2026 – 10 of us went to Whisper Lake, played 16 games, and won 12 of the 16. March 13, 2026 – 8 of us went to Adelaide Shores, played 16 games, and won 11 out of the 16. This Friday we are scheduled for a tournament here with Reflections. On Mar 28, we will have our end-of-season in-park tournament with a party following. On March 29, we will have our Can/Am tournament. A real busy month.
Special Events – Nola Bernstein, Chairman This letter states that on March 15, 2026, Nola Bernstein, Vice Chair of Special Events has stepped up to Chair of Special Events after Arcie Sapato resigned from being Chair of Special Events. At our regular meeting on March 15, 2026, Carleen Fletcher was voted as Vice Chair of Special Events. There is a meeting scheduled for tomorrow at 2 pm in the clubhouse to elect VP for Special Meals.
Special Meals – Arlene Cowmeadow, Chair On Tuesday March 17, 2026, Special Meals had their March St. Patrick’s meal. 121 people were served: pretzel salad, Corn Beef, Cabbage, Carrots, Rasted potatoes, Corn Pudding, Rolls,Eclairs, Water and coffee, $15.00 per person. Because of the water break, had to go and purchase ice and bottled water to serve. Seventeen committee members worked on Tuesdays dinner, 7 worked on Monday on prep. This was our last Special Meal for the season. Next meal will be in November 2026, our Thanksgiving meal. Submitted By: Arleen Cowmeadow.
Tech Support, Gary Friar, Vice Chair — Update on our chairman, John Lemek. He had open-heart surgery recently and could possibly be home by this meeting. Tech is working on stage lighting presentations. We recently purchased new drapes for the back of the stage. This will enhance lighting with new cameras. Looking forward to a quieter schedule this summer.
Tennis Report 3-18-26 :
1. With warmer weather we are again playing tennis on Monday, Wednesday & Friday @9 am. unless it’s raining. 2. We invite residents & guests to join us for a fun game. We have lots of laughs! 3. We have racquets available & always plenty of balls. 4. We have all levels of players & lessons available if wanted. We are in need of more players to join us. Spectators are also welcome! 5. We had a tournament last week for appreciation days & will have our pizza party soon.
Welcome Committee, – Jennifer Burress, Chair Dinner Out: March 24 – Olympic Restaurant – 5:00 pm. Garage Sale Profit of $496.02 Potential Fundraisers: Ordered File for Life cards to sell as a fundraiser, Will purchase a metal yard flower from a machine shop in Carrollton, Ohio to raffle off this fall. Discussed several other fundraiser ideas. New Resident Packets: Requesting flyers/business cards from all committees and service providers. Meeting with Angi to determine how to get new residents to allow the Welcome Committee to visit them. Creating door hangers to promote interest. Possibly offer a gift if we are able to visit them.
Wood Shop – Steve Batey, Chairman Things are going well in the shop as the season winds down. We were able to get the motor on our dust collector rewound which saved us over $3000. Wishing everyone a great summer.
