On November 16th at 2:00pm please join the Tanglewood Art League in the Community Room when we welcome Kathie Caldwell , Environmental Educator at the Archbold Biological Station for her presentation, “Exploring Ecology Through Art.” This workshop will demonstrate how art expression can facilitate connection with nature and understanding science. The presentation will begin with the wonderful art that Archbold’s ecology summer camp participants have created over the years and how their artwork connects to Archbold’s place -based research. Following the presentation, Katie will lead a nature journaling activity, where participants will learn how to keep their own log of the natural world around them. Materials will be provided, but, you are welcome to bring any preferred supplies.
Archbold Biological Station is a non-profit, scientific research station whose mission is to build and share the scientific knowledge needed to protect the life, lands and waters of the heart of Florida and beyond. Katie has been working at Archbold for five years, focusing on K12 programming. Her passion is connecting people of all backgrounds to Florida ecosystems.
This discussion is very timely as we all know how much of the Florida Ecosystem has been lost. Come join us and we will all learn together.
There is no cost to you. Please just list your name in the Art League book on the credenza so that we have a headcount.
Thanks,
Judith Eckstein
Secretary, Tanglewood Art League
