Huge Crowd for Golf Cart Poker Run

Published on

Without a doubt, Golf Cart Poker is a favorite with Tanglewood.  Over 200 players signed up and showed up to play this game, sponsored by Diversions.  Each player got a scoring card, and the driver of each golf cart also got a Routing Sheet, with 5 addresses scattered around the park.  There were six different routes laid out so there were no long lines at the 30 House Hosts.

It didn’t take long for the carts to come rolling back to the Clubhouse.  Our team of Judges checked each score card, and after everyone had an ice cream bar (this was Diversions, after all!) the 10 high hands were announced.

In 10th place, with 3 of a kind, (3-3-3-5) Wilma McDonald won a $10 Dairy Queen gift card, sponsored by Diversions.
9th place, 3 of a higher kind,  (3-3-3-9), Betsey Ellis got a pair of tickets to Country Breakfast, courtesy of Country Breakfast Committee.
8th place, 2 Dance tickets, an even better 3 of a kind (5-5-5-6), went to Tom Finochio from the Dance Committee.
7th place, a $20 Chick-Fil-A card, went to Dennis Baker  from Diversions.  His hand was   5-5-5-9.
6th place, a pair of tickets to a Special Events show, Pat Trebec claimed with 10-10-10-K.  Sponsored by the TWRTimes Committee.
5th place.  Jerry Neuhalfen came in with J-J-J-5, to win a $30 Publix gift card.
4th place, $35 to Walmart from the TWRTimes, Gary Sewell with Q-Q-Q-K.
3rd place.  Jack Schuster won a $40 Olive Garden dinner from Diversions with K-K-K-A.
2nd place , A three of a kind hand showing A-A-A-K, won Eric Johnsen $50 to Cowpokes Restaurant.

And First Place, a simple straight, 2-3-4-5- 6,  Patty Criswell is going to Cody’s with $60 from Diversions.  Congratulations, Patty!

Diversions also always recognizes the poor bloke with the absolute lowest hand.  We celebrate with Gary Forrest, who brought back a hand showing an 8 high.  Pitiful, but it won Gary a $10 scratch off lottery ticket.  Good luck with that.

Emcee Bob Larocque and Diversions Chair Kendra Sloan thanked all the players, Ken in the sound booth, all the 30 house hosts, the judges, the ice cream people, the route people, Hometown America for providing some maps, and all the players.  It took a heck of a lot of volunteers to pull this together.  Diversions is always looking for new members and new ideas.  We meet the first Thursday of each month at 1:00 in the Community Room.
