My mom was an adequate cook. Nothing fancy, but she could stretch Dad’s paycheck to feed our family of five. Like most cooks, she had a couple of special dishes that we all looked forward to. Her ham-egg-noodle casserole was my favorite.
It’s time to start planning for the May 13 Pot Luck Dinner. Remember some of your mother’s meals and replicate them for us. Was it a salad that you craved? Or maybe a Tater Tot casserole? Did you ask for a particular dessert for your birthday every year?
The Pot Luck Committee holds a meal the second Tuesday of the every month. Sign up on the credenza, indicate how many are in your party, and the type of dish you’ll be sharing (main dish, side, or dessert). Bring your own table service and a drink. There’s no charge, although we do sell 50/50’s to pay for our door prizes and basic supplies. Bring your stuff in between 5:00 and 5:20 and find a seat. We start calling tables at 5:30 and everyone has been called by 5:40.
And Happy Mother’s Day to all you ladies.
