Occultation

Oc-cul-ta-tion

Noun

Concealing one heavenly body by another

The state of being hidden from view or lost to notice

Dr. Tyson would not categorize a lunar eclipse as an occultation since it involves a shadow being cast rather than one body passing in front of another.

Occultation is first used in English in the 15th century and comes from Latin.
