Petanque October Tournament

Published on

Submitted by Gary Braun

On October 12th we held our monthly Pétanque Tournament with thirty-two participants. Prize money was paid out to the top four teams. We also had several door prizes and one 50/50 winner. I want to thank Ken and Mary Hohensee, and Ron Richman for clearing the Pétanque courts area of debris left behind from hurricane Milton and Bruce Townsend for cooking the hotdogs. The main thing is that everyone had fun and looking forward to the next Tournament. During intermission players were served hotdogs, chips, and water.

W-W-W First Place Champions (L-R) Mark Alley, Marc Nadeau, Andrea Siebert, Gary Briggs.

W-W-L Second Place Winners (L-R) Jay Ring, Melinda Townsend, Mary Hohensee, Dave Gatten.

W-L-W Consolation Winners (L-R) Howard Karnes, Cathy Porrini, Cathe Gatten, Daryl Warttig.

L-W-W Consolation Winners (L-R) Gary Williamson, Theresa Alley, Sharon Day, Al Berry.

Congrats to all the tournament winners, 50/50 winners and other door prize winners. A special thanks to all the volunteers that continue to make this event possible.

We have now moved back to our Winter Schedule.

·         Committee meetings are held the day before each tournament at 1:00 PM courtside.

·         Tournaments are scheduled either on the 1st or 2nd Saturday of the month at 9:00 AM.

·         Winter Schedule: 10:00 am Tue/Thu/Friday; 1:00 pm Monday-Saturday.

·         New Player Clinics are available at 12:45 pm every Monday.

·         No equipment is necessary, just show up.

·         If you’re new to Tanglewood or just have never played Pétanque before, come out to our new clinic and give it a try.

We also have equipment for first-time players to try before they buy. Who knows, your name might be among the tournament winners next month.
