TMAC Annual Committee Reports 2025
TMAC has twenty-four separate committees. Each one is responsible to submit a summary or Annual Committee Report at the end of the year. This report comes from the current chairmen from 2025. It is most helpful to the new or incoming chairman as it describes the committee’s accomplishments over the past year and may also include new plans for the upcoming year. Below is the list of committees who submitted their annual report.
BINGO – Richard Balduff, retired chairman
My job at Bingo was, with my committee to make everyone happy. As you come through the front door, there is a table with packets to purchase. They are $3, $6 and $9. These are sold at the door. The next table is for the charities: food drive, veterans, change of Pace, and the Humane Society. The next row of tables is for the three specials. They are $1, $2 and $3. For the past 12 years I have ordered supplies and made sure that the machines were in good working order. If I had a problem with the machines, I called Tampa Bingo Co. My committee was excellent and did everything I expected. They were GREATLY appreciated.
Country Breakfast – Steve Sykes, Chairman We served meals on 9 dates; we idled for the summer months June thru August. Sold 948 tickets. The Committee has a stable number of members. We meet on the fourth Thursday of every month. Public interest has expanded for the winter season, currently 140 plus meals served monthly.
Dance Committee Report Annual -Robin Meyer, Chairman The dance committee had a good year. Thanks to the wonderful Tanglewood residents our 11 dances plus a couple fundraisers, we can book bands for the 2026 year. It has been a challenge to get bands that everyone likes but hopefully we have done the job. More good bands and a fundraiser or two are coming soon.
Diversions Year End Report, 2025-26 – Shirley Kabet, Vice Chair It was a successful year. In addition to our usual fun and games we supported 2 new fund raisers: The Bras for Hope and the Fall Festival. The November Craft Fair was moderately successful but the Garage Sale was pretty much a bust. There are hundreds of rabid residents who play Bean Bag Baseball every week. We also supported the Tech Committee’s fund raiser dance. We sponsored Monday Morning Coffee and bought 5 of TMAC’s lottery calendars. All the “big” events we ran (Golf Cart Poker, Blind Draw, Christmas Party) had very nice prizes awarded. Our working membership remains small. Some are snowbirds, leaving the bulk of the summer action to the half dozen full-timers. And we’re getting tired.
Genealogy Club: Annual Report Marianne Jones, Chair: The club meets once a month on the first Wednesday at 10:00 am in the Community Room. We had an average of 27 members during our season, which runs from November through April. Annual membership dues are $5.00. We hosted a Beginner’s Workshop with 11 attendees in January. These workshops are held in addition to our regular meetings and are attended by Tanglewood residents who are not club members, as well as some of our current members. Pertinent information is imparted at each meeting via webinars, videos, guest speakers and handouts. We also e-mail genealogy articles of interest to our members during the off-season. We award a door prize of a Family Tree Magazine at each meeting. We set up free resource materials and magazines on a table and on the room credenza with reference handouts, website links, topic articles, and numerous ethnicity lineage guidance articles at each meeting for anyone interested. We had a genealogy research expert from the LDS Family Search Library make presentations at several of our meetings on various topics of interest pertaining to family history research. Each April, our program entails an antiques, heirlooms and family history “show and tell” sharing event. Our board holds planning meetings twice a year to focus on important presentations, speakers and to create a general outline for our upcoming season. We’ve created a special club brochure for distribution at meetings, workshops, and the Welcome Gala. Tanglewood residents are always invited and welcome to attend our meetings and workshops. Everything we offer is free.
Glass shop – year end report – Melanie Miller Chair The glass shop has had a very busy year. In January and February, the glass shop offered 2 different classes on Wednesdays, one in fusing and the other stained glass. In March we offered a mosaic class, where the students learned about substrates, different adhesives and techniques. The finished project was a hanging wall planter. Summer was quiet, members worked on their own projects. One of the projects completed by a member was mosaicking a large clay pot. In September, we had a cleanup party. Scrubbing down walls, shelves and cleaning equipment. In starting up in October discussion and planning for the craft fair that was scheduled for November. We had tables and kitchen this year. The October/November-stained glass class received instructions on how to score glass, scoring and breaking lass with curves. Applying foil and soldering everything together to make a beautiful stained glass pieces. We also had a workshop, where we learned to make fused glass votives in December. January has been a busy month. On January 7th a fused glass class started, again teaching scoring skills and making fun pieces. Also, started was another 5-week-stained glass class. This weekend they made windchimes out of seaglass. On January 14, we started another 5-week-stained glass. Back by popular demand we scheduled another fused glass votive workshop on the last Sunday in January. With the elections this month, we will be welcoming in a new group of officers.
MONDAY MORNING COFFEE ANNUAL REPORT – Polly Grant Chairman February 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026. Coffee and donuts were served every Monday Morning from February 3, 2025, thru January 26, 2026. Between 18 and 8 dozen donuts are served depending on the number of residents attending MMC and the time of year. Any leftover donuts are taken to Bingo on Monday evening or to Bunco on Tuesday evening. We have had sponsors for almost every Monday with the exception of 3 no shows, 2 cancellations and 1 no sponsor. It is difficult to obtain sponsors during the summer months as many vendors feel they do not have as many residents to try and reach in representing their company. I try to tell them there are as many full-time residents as part time. There was no communication from management of Hometown America that I would be responsible for obtaining and arranging for sponsors after Billie left, until I began receiving phone calls from vendors. Several residents have stepped up in the summer when it was announced that we had no sponsors for several weeks and we thank them very much. It is $75 for any resident to sponsor MMC either personally or their business. During the course of the year I was requested to make coffee for events such as the Garage Sale & Craft Fair. We have also sponsored a Bean Bag Baseball team, donated gift cards for other TMAC events and supported the Tech Committee as they are always available to furnish tech/mic support for MMC and we are forever grateful to them. I was trying to retire as Chairperson in January. However, no one came forward to take over in 2026 so it looks like I have it one more year. Please be forewarned this will definitely be my last year. Respectfully submitted, Polly Grant, Chairperson of Monday Morning Coffee

Tennis Committee Annual Report 2025 Report Gerry Bentley, Chair. Our tennis committee has gotten smaller due to injury, illness, moving out of the park or switching to pickleball. We still play on Monday, Wednesday & Friday @9 am on the courts unless cold weather occurs, 55* or below. The schedule changes during the summer as players head north & is adjusted by players remaining. We always welcome residents & registered guests. We have extra racquets for use & always balls. We collect dues of $5 for the year to supply new balls as needed, ordering online to get the best price. We also have a ball machine available to tennis committee members. Our players are of different levels, so all are welcomed & encouraged to join us. We have lessons for beginners or those wanting to improve their skills. We have a tournament in March for Residents Appreciation Week with a pizza party afterwards. We’re always looking for tennis players. We are a fun group! No need to sign up, just come to the courts on our scheduled days & have a great time. Respectfully submitted, Gerry Bentley, tennis committee chairman
TWRT Year End Report, 2025-26 –Shirley Kabet Chair We published something just about every day. Our biggest problem, as always, is getting people, clubs and Committees to send us their news. Our number of monthly hits remains fairly steady. We have 13 members and 3 new people signed up to join us in the 2026 year. We tried a Seek & Find game this winter, but it was not a success. We will be sponsoring the annual Spelling Bee on Feb. 10. We could use someone to handle the selling of our paid ads. If that person could also get them published in our newsletter it would be a bonus. Officers: Shirley Kabet, Editor and Chair, Bob Larocque, Vice Chair, Betsey Ellis, Secretary, Kathy Wyatt, (outgoing) Treasurer.
WELCOME COMMITTEE 2025 Annual Report – Mary Lee Cipriano Chair The Welcome Committee visited 67 new households in 2024. Numbers are certainly down. Reports from the office with new resident information are scattered. We continue to gather info at Monday Morning Coffee and from residents who inform us of new neighbors. The Welcome Committee has established:
- The annual New Resident GALA in January to introduce our new residents to all committees and groups in Tanglewood and provide helpful information.
- A monthly Dinner Out to introduce new residents to local restaurants and find their way around Sebring and the surrounding area. We have one rule: sit with someone you don’t know; all residents are invited and can meet new people each month.
- We have an email address, WelcomeCommittee@AOL.com
- We respond to the list of new residents sent to us from the office and arrange visits from a committee member providing a folder filled with info on activities and services in Tanglewood. We match the team member with the new resident by neighborhood or other means to find a good match for the visit.
- We distribute our Welcome Folder to each new resident we visit. This folder contains important information about the township, where to register your car, activities and groups, and business cards for residents who provide a service. We also include services from the Sebring area.
- We hold work sessions when necessary to make up our folders for distribution
- MMC – table set up marked with a sunflower for new residents. Their photo and bio are published in TWR Times and a welcome visit is arranged.
- Sunflowers hang from the lamp post of each member to assist new residents who might need information.
- We have a flier made for HTA and is inserted into the Welcome Packet from the office when they purchase a house. Even if they signed a non-disclosure form, they can find out about the Welcome Team and can contact us.
Tanglewood Wood Shop Annual report for February 2026, Steve Batey, Chairman. The Woodshop is running smoothly and has seen a busy year. We replaced several pieces of equipment this year including a new drum sander and router with a lift for the router table. We have had volunteers that do a deep cleaning of the shop every week and are doing a great job. There have also been volunteers taking on the jobs of cleaning up our clamps, reorganizing the tools on the peg board and cleaning out the tool room and the southeast corner of the shop. Also, our members repainted the shop and it looks great. Looking forward to a great 2026. Thank you, Stephen Batey, Chairman.
