TMAC March Meeting

Published on

Did you hear what went on at the TMAC Meeting on Wednesday, March 18th? President Steve Batey gave his presentation on how TMAC can become financially sustainable without the need to depend on inconsistent raffles or fundraisers with undependable funding. We tried to raffle a golf cart a few years ago and didn’t raise enough interest to make it work financially. Last year we sold calendars for $20 and were able to reach our goal of selling five-hundred twenty. But this year, we did not meet that goal. In spite of the guaranteed $100 per week pay off, and your ticket went back into the jar for another chance to win again. So why didn’t it work this time? No one knows for sure. Some people called the board lazy, because they didn’t sell a certain allotted amount of tickets. Other committees purchased the allotted number for their committee’s funding. But still, no guarantees.

Some committees said they don’t use or need TMAC insurance or liability protection. To that one might consider if you haven’t had a wreck in a few years why do you continue to pay for auto insurance? You don’t use it, and haven’t needed to call your agent. Yet, you probably won’t cancel it…

If you missed the meeting, you’re in luck. We recorded it so everyone who has committee members who are not here can review the video and see for themselves what all the commotion was about.

Many voices were heard, including several from the audience who put in their two percent view. Overall, the public was in favor of the presentation with a few adjustments, but the two percent (Tanglewood Operating Expense) TOE charge, is something the board will be voting on at the April meeting. This gives everyone a chance to review with their committees how to approach the fee and make arrangements. If everything passes at the April meeting, nothing will go into effect until September 2026.

So, sit back, watch and learn. You might even laugh at a few comments or suggestions.
