Overview of TMAC 2% Operating Expense Proposal

This summary includes several recommendations for Tanglewood Residents regarding the upcoming TMAC financial decision.

Importance of Resident Participation

The next TMAC Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15th at 3 PM in the clubhouse. During this session, twenty-four Committee Chairmen will vote on whether to allow the TMAC Financial Committee to deduct two percent from their annual gross income balance (YOUR MONEY) to cover TMAC’s Operating Expenses. The funds that committees manage originate from you, the residents. However, some chairmen, especially those leading committees with higher income, have openly opposed this proposal, contending that they lack the ‘extra’ funds and pointing out the disparity in contributions between larger and smaller committees.

Upcoming TMAC Meeting Details

Do you enjoy playing cards, Bingo, going to dances, having a nice dog park, reserved seating at special events, learning about your family history, having a dependable newsletter, knowing the computer club is close by when yours suddenly dies, or going to potluck once a month with friends?  How about playing tennis when you don’t own a racket, taking a day trip to the beach on a big bus that allows you to nap on the way home?

As a newcomer the Welcome committee members are only a phone call away and finally, how about the wood shop? It’s a nice place you or your significant other can get away for awhile and enjoy once again, all the tools they left behind…. Those things are only a part of what makes up TMAC. It’s all the volunteers who run it. That’s why we moved here. There’s no other place like Tanglewood.  Ask your committees how they will vote on Wednesday.

Review of the Two Percent Operating Expense

The 2% Operating Expense would begin in September. Here’s a quick review of what the two percent means for typical TMAC events:

  • Two percent of ten dollars is twenty cents (dance ticket).
  • For Special Events, a $20 ticket equals forty cents; and 2 % of  $25 ticket at the door is fifty cents.
  • Season tickets at $125 amount to two dollars and fifty cents.
  • Country breakfast: $8 ticket = sixteen cents.
  • Garage Sale tables: $5 = ten cents.
