It’s that time of year again. TMAC’s annual ‘Committee Membership Drive’. Beginning on Sunday, December 15th through January 15th all Tanglewood residents will have the opportunity to ‘sign up’ with as many committees as they have an interest in joining. This can be accomplished in two different ways.
The easiest and quickest way is right here online through TWRTimes. A link will be available at this sight beginning December 15th through January 15, 2025. Or for those who prefer the traditional method, “The RED Sign Up book’ will appear and remain on the Credenza in the Clubhouse where residents can physically sign their name, email address and phone # under each committee they have an interest in joining. There are currently twenty-four active committees under the TMAC umbrella with no limit as to the number of committees you can join.
TMAC is an acronym for Tanglewood Master Activities Committee.Β They are a 501C-7 Non Profit Organization which began in May of 1998 under John Graytek, the Manager of Tanglewood at that time. TMAC’s purpose is to provide recreational activities and facilities to residents. They have Bylaws with Rules and Regulations to adhere to in order to have continuity and follow Robert’s Rules of Order during monthly meetings.Β
Each committee will elect their own Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer on election day, January 20, 2025.Β Β No other committee business is to be held during this time. All committees will meet individually for approximately fifteen minutes in the club house area to nominate and vote for their officers for the following fiscal year which begins in February and ends the following January.Β
To summarize: December 15th through January 15th is merely ‘sign up’ time for committees to renew their current members and also gain new members. Your signature on the sign up page or through the online sign up for a committee is your ‘intent’ to join that committee. But if after attending a few meetings and the elections, you decide its not a good fit for you, it’s okay. Please inform the chairman of your decision and move on to what ever other committee is a better fit for your lifestyle. No pressure, although some committees do require a ‘membership fee/dues’ be paid annually. Not all committees have this obligation.
One more reason for you to check out the Welcome Committee’s ‘Annual Gala’ held in January. It is for residents who have moved here within the past year. The Gala is a great way to find out about all the committees’ purpose and goals for the year. Mary Lee Cipriano is the chairman of the Welcome committee. You can always see her smiling face and sometimes here her sing to you at Monday Morning Coffee. Stay tuned for more details for that occasion.Β
