Oh Say Did You See the New Banners?

Published on

Tanglewood is draping the light poles with new banners. Have you seen the new Banners our committees purchased to show off the many Volunteer Run Activities we have here in Tanglewood? Twenty-four are TMAC Committees and others are Independent Committees. All are run by volunteer residents loving what they do and doing what they love. Having fun, relaxing in the sun while still remaining active as a vital part of this community helping each other when in need and some reaching outside our walls to help those not so fortunate, to get back on their feet.

If you’re using the Schumacher Private Entrance you will first see the vibrant Tanglewood Glass Art Shop Banner standing tall. Next to the street signs of ‘Going to the Sun & Tanglewood Parkway,  is a colorful basket of yarn representing the Tanglewood Needlework Group. Awesome colors! Across the street is the Tanglewood Woodshop Banner  featuring a  Sharp and Shiny Black Table Saw Blade that appears ready to shred itself right off the pole.

As you maneuver your golf cart  down the street with camera phone in one hand and knees adjusting the steering wheel,  you spot another new banner with a brilliant blue background sporting daisies in full bloom as they  advertise the Outdoor Decorating Committee Join Us!

Now turn your head to the other side of the street and slow down because this is a magnificent photo of a tree full of musical notes dancing in between the branches and leaves called ‘Way Off Broadway at Tanglewood! This one brings to mind the phrase  ‘my dear gentle readers’…

Now you just have to smile when you see that bright yellow ‘Choose Happy 😊Banner  and can’t help but remember a lady named Penny, whose driveway bears the same symbol with a matching silk banner. Across the street, and most appropriate, is the Red White and Blue Hometown American ‘For Sale’ Banner nestled above the bed of flowers in front of the Main Office.

As you continue carting on down the road you can’t help but blink and take a second look at the red chili pepper banner waving a tail with an attitude while wearing a green stem hat. (Gotta be ‘Red Hot Babes’).  The Youthful Bookworm from across the street appears to be startled while staring at her with a look of sheer excitement on his tiny green face and huge ‘bug eyes’.  His first discovery of a Red Hot Babe. Close your mouth little bookworm while in the ‘Tanglewood Library,  and enjoy the view.

Next up is the Genealogy Club Banner which depicts a classy lady holding up a circle necklace made of leaves topped off with sunglasses and hair resembling the same foilage. What a wonderful way to distract your attention while enticing you to join this group.  As we continue down the Tanglewood Parkway, the next banner will give you pause as it is two connected right triangles.  On the green background you will see a white painted pattern with numbers encapsulated by geometric lines. A few numbers are covered by round black circles.   Beside the board you will see the vertically angled word Shuffleboard’ runs up onto the white background. Near the end of the Parkway road and almost to the circle,  you will find a familiar silhouette of a couple in dance position showing off her new stilettos. Beside them is the tallest acoustic guitar in the park, both inviting you to come to the ‘Tanglewood’s Monthly Saturday Night Dances.

The next sign is actually quite old, but has freshly planted colorful flowers surrounding the white posts as they frame the green background rectangle displaying directions to ‘Home Sales, RV Registration and the Business Office. The other side however, displays a coveted comment leaving one to wonder to whom the title belongs. Many have happily claimed it when the crowned one leaves the park. If no names come to mind, be  careful, you could be the one old grouch!

The next sign you may encounter is true where ever it is posted.   Now showing at the top of the banner is a bright yellow sun wearing blue -ray sunglasses as it reminds us why we came to live here: It’s called ‘Where the Sun Always Shines! TANGLEWOOD…and as the song says (Sunshine Wake Me Up This Morning, Blue Sky Stretching Far and Wide. Easy living. No alarm clock, Just Good Vibes On My Side..).

As you venture up to towards the Main Entrance where the Military Veteran Banners dominate this part of the entrance. The first sign shows the US Army Veterans . Followed by a stark Navy background with white bold words Tanglewood Air Force Veterans, Next is the  US NAVY, followed by then TANGLEWOOD VETERANS MARINE CORP. SEMPER FI, then we see the  TANGLEWOOD COAST GUARD.

Shows & Tributes Presented by Special Events TMAC Committee embraces an antique theatre stage. Special Meals Banner shows off a formal China dinner place setting. Finally, another Choose Happy sign with the big yellow smiley face lookin back-atcha! Underneath that smiley sign are two safety signs. DO NOT PASS &  Speed Limit 17.

Look for more banners to appear as they begin to show up around the circle in the next few weeks. Yes, it is Hurricane season, but let he who has nothing that needs to be removed in their own front yard as a possible projectile, be the first to one to complain. Unlike tornados that can strike within a few minutes warning. With Hurricanes, we normally have a week or two warning to finally get all that ‘stuff’ out of the front yard and bring in the flags and banners. You paid for the banners, they’re here, so enjoy them while we can.

None the less, don’t forget to wave and point at your banner when you drive by it so  everyone behind you will know who your are…. Banner Photos will be posted once they can magically jump out of this writer’s phone and into the gallery.
