One of a grandparent’s greatest joys is watching their grandchildren live their lives.  From age 3 to senior year, I bragged about my granddaughter, Jordan’s dancing talents.  I knew because of her hip dysplasia and several surgeries, she would never be famous dancer.  But I was mesmerized by her courage and talent. I watched her dance through pain and gain self-confidence, and self-esteem and tears of pride were often brought to my eyes. I was a devoted grandma who would feel my feet tapping and heart swollen with pride when she took the stage. In my heart, I was on stage with her, and before I thought possible, my tiny dancer was a grown woman.

Our grandchildren bring us some much joy, whether they are winning a spelling bee, making a touchdown or hitting a home run.  Nothing warms our hearts more than seeing our grandchildren succeed and having opportunities we never realized.  But as much as we enjoyed watching them as children, years steal our little ones and suddenly they are all grown up.

Is there any better feeling than watching our babies, graduating with honors, winning a scholarship, fighting for our country, or serving the public as first responders?  Maybe my grandchildren will be ordinary like me.  But I don’t care. I know our grandchildren will always be part of us. They are our legacy, but in our memories, will always be our tiny dancers!
