Jeofail
Geo-fail
Noun
A mistake or oversight in a legal proceeding and/or the acknowledgment of same
Tom was forced to admit his jeofail after opposing counsel called him out for misquoting the Declaration of Independence in his reply brief.
This now mainly archaic term comes from the French jeo fail meaning “I am at fault”. Since we all know that lawyers these days are incapable of either error, or admitting to one, it has gone out of style.
