The “SPIRIT OF TANGLEWOOD” was blatantly alive and well last night when more than 300 people showed up to celebrate and support one of their own.
Leanne & Ron Mills put together and collected a ton of willing volunteers to stage this fun filled but purposeful event. It truly took a village…..and the volunteers came out of the woodwork and worked unselfishly for their neighbor. When Leanne & Ron became incapacitated Gail Mattalina stepped up to the plate and took over.
Husbands, wives, old residents and new residents all came together and showed up to make this event happen. The love and unity was in abundance!!!! TANGLEWOOD CAME ALIVE!!
New residents got a taste of what Tanglewood has always been about………..more than just fun and games but………support of each other…..it was the “days of old”
The evening started off with residents being able to buy a hamburger or hot dog with chips and a cookie or brownie. Hometown America kindly donated the meat with volunteers doing the rest. Steve and Irene (Sykes) Kitchen people Extraordinaire……stepped up at the last minute and did a superb job. (as always)
The Tanglewood Garage Band graciously supplied the music and the evening was on its way.
There was dancing, camaraderie, prize raffles, and a huge 50/50.
Thankfully Jim & Bernadette were able to join us after just coming home from the hospital (again!) That, too, was a special part of the evening.
Enough can’t be said about the TECH CREW. They did an amazing job. They worked the screen, the lights, the sound and all the cameras. This is a fabulous committee that constantly serves ALL of Tanglewood. Almost anytime you are in the clubhouse for a function, the Tech crew is there to serve you. This group is probably the hardest working volunteer committee in Tanglewood and are more often than not unrecognized and usually overlooked, not to mention overworked. What a crew!! They are ALL volunteers and constantly give of their time working hours and hours each week.
Many business outside of our community, all of whom support everything Tanglewood, came together to make the raffle prizes a great success. Please see the list of our supporters and try to support them when you shop. They help make our events better!
Everyone was a winner last night………..some by giving and some by receiving….. but make no mistake last night was a BIG WIN! The spirit of community was alive and well and it was a feeling that we think everyone felt.
Tom Knoter, a resident for only a year was the big winner as far as prizes go. He took home $783 and his part of the 50/50.
Tanglewood has outdone themselves with this one. Be PROUD…….YOU the neighbors of Tanglewood have contributed over $13,000 for your neighbor who needs a helping hand!
The volunteers went un-thanked last night (mea culpa) but they know who they are and they know the importance of what they did. Be proud!!
Please keep Lianne & Ron, Bernadette and Jim and all of our “under the weather” friends in your prayers.
